SJVN full form

The electricity generation in our country has always been a severe problem and even though we have some alternatives for the same but they all cause harmful impact on the environment. So, people in India started to think of a medium that was reliable and can be used for the generation of electricity without causing harm to the environment. It basically uses the Satluj river water as it is clean and thus generates energy that can be renewed very easily. It has done so much achievement in providing electricity to the people who normally don’t have access to them and also reduced the impact of harm environment gets through other modes of generation. The entity involved in the clean energy generation using Satluj river is identified as SJVN (Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam).

This basically started when some of the people realized and noticed that Satluj river had a lot of water that could be easily used by the resources to generate massive electricity. The founders thought by starting this initiative they will not only contribute to the future generation of electricity but also help the local communities grow in the future. Over the time SJVN has become a crucial part in the electricity sector.

This tutorial basically talks about the impact, history and further improvements in this project.

History and Establishment

It basically started on May 24, 1988 with a joint team work between the Indian government and the Himachal Pradesh government the main goal of this initiative was to make some electricity for Himachal Pradesh and some places in Himachal Pradesh. The company’s main job is to create, plan run, test and execute all the plans related to the hydroelectric power in the city.

Hydropower Projects

SJVN has many projects that make up the electricity and all of this adds up and then we calculate the total energy that is generated. There are many projects ongoing in India right now for the generation of electricity but one such project is Nathpa which basically generates 1500 megawatts of electricity and is also considered as one of the largest trending electricity generators. The other one is Rampur hydro station which generated 412 megawatts of electricity. The company is still growing and generating lots of other projects as well.

Sustainability and Environmental Impact

We know it’s so important to build such resources which proves to be sustainable over a long period of time. We can use them endlessly and also prepare adequate amount leaving some for the future generations. We know that this form of energy manufacturing will never harm the climate because of its natural ways of generating and using all the natural resources. Many of the projects itself uses the natural flow of the river to generate the electricity and make sure that they are not disturbing the animals.

They have also launched a campaign where they have decided to plant more and more trees near their project site so that they don’t cause any sort of harm to the environment and this also regulates their promise towards providing a cleaner energy and not using too much fossil fuels.

Challenges and Future Outlook

Even though the SJVN has done so much well in making the hydropower but there are still some ongoing issues in the background such as getting the land, managing the flow of the river, and several other issues for the company. Some of the other facts which cause these hurdles are changes in the climate and also if it rains, we decide how much water is there for the hydropower to generate electricity.

For the future, people are very well aware that we can’t just rely on the hydropower to generate the electricity we have to also focus on other sort of sources as well. This aligns well with the country’s goal of establishing a well and reliable energy system.

SJVN has been really important for making reliable use of the Satluj river to make electricity and reduce the harmful effects on the environment as well. This initiative has not only showed that it can generate energy but also stated that it cares about the environment and wants to focus on what the people and communities want and also want to help them grow. Even the company faces its challenges but it keeps trying new ideas to maintain the flow.
