Federated Cloud

What is Federated Cloud?

In this modern era, we are using cloud storage widely for the storage of data. There are many different types of clouds. Many organizations provide the cloud services for free up to some extent and then we need to pay for the storage what we are using. The Cloud service providers also maintain the servers and other storage devices at their end. The cloud management is not an easy process. It is very hard to maintain the cloud because there will be a lot of complications. This is where the federated cloud comes into play. The federated cloud can also be called as cloud federation. All the internal and external issues of the cloud services are managed by the Cloud Federation or the Federated Cloud.

Federated Cloud

Federated Cloud can also be called as the Cloud federation. Federated Cloud can be defined as a platform of interconnecting the environment of the cloud computing services of different service providers for improving the load balancing and to provide the services for the users. The main function of the Federated cloud is to fulfill all the needs of a business or a company by the deployment and management of the multiple external and internal Cloud computing services. In the Federated Cloud, federation means the union of small parts that do common or same work like the federation of the employees or workers. When all the types of the clouds are brought together to fulfill the business needs of a company is called as cloud federation.

The Federated cloud is a multinational cloud system. The Federated cloud has a very big cloud network and all the operations, and the services are monitored. In this Multinational cloud system, the community cloud, private and public clouds are integrated with each other to form a scalable Computing platform or a federated cloud. With the help of the Federated cloud all the clouds are easily scale up too many numbers of resources. The Federated cloud also improves the reliability on the service provided by the cloud.

Advantages of Federated Cloud

There are a lot of advantages or benefits provided by the Federated cloud. By the help of the Federated Cloud when the users are increased on a particular service of a particular cloud provider it manages the number users and provides the services of the other cloud providers are present in the cloud network. So, the load will be balanced, and there will be no service overloading issues. It also deals with the problem of capacity management of the Cloud. Federated Cloud will also scale the data to other service providers. The resources of the cloud providers will be used in an efficient manner. There will be many issues in the cloud services, and they can be easily removed using the Federated Cloud. The vendor locking will also be prevented by the help of Federated Cloud.

Properties of Federated Cloud

  • The Federated cloud assists the new users to use the services of several cloud providers in the federated environment.
  • The Federated cloud also have a service called monitoring or Maas and it track the contracted services and provides the information to the users
  • The Cloud service providers can publish their offers to all the customers of the Federated Cloud
  • All the marketing objects of the Cloud services like Infrastructure, Software, Platform should pass through the federation when they are utilized in the Federated cloud
  • The Users of the federated cloud can use the services provided by the different cloud services directly or with the help of the mediator.
  • The services can be directly used by the Decentralized interaction which permits the user to direct interaction with the cloud

Problems of the Federated Cloud

There are many challenges faced while using the federated cloud. There is no proper scheme in the distribution of the incoming demands equally between the different service providers. When the incoming requests are increased suddenly then the cloud users face the problem in selecting the relevant service provider. The Federated cloud faces a lot of issues, and it does not work seamlessly on the overloading of new requests. The customers will be tied up with the non-relevant service providers and they should consume the services provided by the non-relevant service provider.
