In today's world, the use of the internet and computer is rapidly increasing in day-to-day life. The issues with computer security are also raised with the high use of the internet and computer. As a result, there is a high demand for cyber security experts.

Cyber security is a part of computer science that deals with people who enjoy taking the challenge. The people with the potential to take on the challenging deal with cybersecurity. The thread to the network and computer are increasing rapidly every day with the internet and technology. Cyber attackers compromise large companies' confidential information using various techniques like phishing, malware, and many more. For this reason, there is so much demand for cyber security experts in the market. The main job of a cyber security expert is to protect the network and computer from cyber attacks. We have to do some certification courses to make a career in cyber security.

What is a Cybersecurity Engineer?

A cybersecurity engineer is a person who designs a computer system that can defend against a cyber attacker, hackers, and other threats. They also engage in continuous testing and monitoring of the computer system. The cyber engineer also ensures that all the systems work perfectly to defend against the system. The cyber engineer is also known as an IT security engineer, data security engineer, and web security engineer. But a start-up or small company cannot afford a cyber security engineer. There are many different practices in cyber security like Identity and Access Management, Data Security, Application Security, Security Intelligence and Assurance and Security Auditing. It is always good to be strong in networking fundamentals.

What does a cyber security engineer do?

Cyber security engineers do the following things.

  • Evaluating the needs of the organization's security.
  • Upgrade all the security measures of the organization to protect the data, network, and system.
  • All the security breaches of the network are maintained by the cyber security engineer.
  • Troubleshoot all the network and computer issues.
  • Conduct penetration testing.
  • Changing the management process.
  • Investigate security breaches.

Note: The job role of cybersecurity engineer and security analyst is nearly identical. 

Qualification of Cybersecurity Engineer

To become a cyber security engineer, we must have the following qualification. These are the following qualifications.

  • Must have a degree in computer science.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in cybersecurity jobs.
  • Must have work experience in firewall operation, function, and maintenance.
  • Must have the idea of language such as C++, JAVA, Node, Python, etc.
  • Must have the ability to work in any situation.
  • Must have to be up to date with new cyber security fraud.

Cybersecurity Engineer's Salary-

The average salary of a senior cyber security engineer has $135000 per year. In India, the average salary of a cyber security engineer is $500,000 per year.

Demand for Cybersecurity Engineers

There will be approximately 3.4 million vacancies worldwide by the end of this year. There is an increase in demand for cyber security engineers worldwide. In terms of cyber-related crime, the cyber security engineer estimates the total loss during the cyber security attack. Some companies recruit various amounts of cyber security engineers worldwide. These companies are BAE systems, Symantec, Checkpoint software, Lookhead martin, FireEye, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, and CyberArk Software etc.

How long time is required to become a Cybersecurity Engineer?

The timeline to become a cyber security engineer depends on education, certification, and experience. Most candidates become entry-level cyber security engineers within two to four years.
