Attedit command in AutoCAD

At the Command prompt, modify a block's attribute data. You may filter the properties that need to be changed based on the attribute tag, the current value, or the selected item.

Be sure to adhere to these rules when setting a filter:

  • To limit what may be modified, type the precise name of a block, attribute tag, or attribute value. Since attribute values and tags are case-sensitive, capitalize the correct words.
  • If you do not wish to filter on a certain block, tag, or value, press Enter to accept the asterisk (*).
  • To select and modify empty attribute values, type a backslash (/).

The following questions are shown.

Edit each attribute separately?

Indicates whether modifications are made locally or globally.

Yes. edits each property individually. The attributes must be clear and in line with the existing UCS. With this technique, you may alter the text string as well as attributes like height and color.

No. modifies a lot of characteristics at once, no. When altering attributes globally, you can only swap out one text string (or attribute value) for another.

Attribute prompts for both individual and global changes

When editing is being done both individually and globally, the following prompts are shown.

Specification of the block name

Type the name of the block containing the attribute you wish to change in the text box. You can modify the attributes of any block insertion by pressing Enter without specifying a block.

Specifying an attribute tag

Please enter the attribute tag you wish to modify. Any tag's attributes can be changed if the Enter key is pressed without providing a tag name.

Case matters for attribute values.

Specification of attribute values

Change the attribute value by entering it. Any value can be changed if the attribute value is not specified before pressing Enter.

Case matters for attribute values.

certain qualities

To modify an attribute, locate the block insertion in the drawing area and click it.

The selection set's initial attribute is denoted by an X. You can modify any of the characteristics of the attribute you choose if you choose Yes to edit attributes one at a time.

Until you go on to the subsequent attribute, the X stays on the current attribute.

Changing Individual Attributes Prompts

Only if you select Yes to change each characteristic individually will the following prompts appear.

Value changes or modifies the value of an attribute.

  • Changes the text you input for the attribute value. When you don't want to replace the complete string, use this technique.

The? and * letters are read literally rather than as wild-card symbols.

  • Replace. Replaces the whole attribute value with a new value.

If you press Enter, the attribute value will be empty (null).

Position

Changes the text insertion point.

If the attribute is aligned, ATTEDIT prompts for both ends of a new text baseline.

Height

Changes the text height.

When you specify a point, the height becomes the distance between the specified point and the start point of the text.

Angle

Changes the rotation angle.

If you specify a point, the text is rotated along an imaginary line between the specified point and the start point of the text.

Style

modifies the style preference.

Layer

changes the layer.

Color

changes the color.

A genuine color, a color from a color book, or a color from the AutoCAD Color Index can all be entered.

  • Byblock or Bylayer. specifies that the layer or block's default parameters are used to determine the color. At the prompt, enter bylayer or byblock.
  • actual color. Indicates the actual color that will be used to decorate the object of choice.
  • Using a loaded color book, a coloring book chooses a color for the selected object. If you enter a color book, such as PANTONE, you are encouraged to provide the color name, such as 573.

Next

The next characteristic in the option set is then selected. -ATTEDIT comes to a conclusion if there are no more attributes.

Prompts for Global Attribute Change

If you respond "No" to the Edit attributes one at a time prompt, the next set of questions will appear.

Edit just the screen's visible attributes?

Indicates whether properties that are not visible should be excluded. Changes do not take effect right away. Unless REGENAUTO, which manages automatic regeneration, is turned off, the drawing is regenerated at the conclusion of the command.

(AutoCAD LT does not support REGENAUTO.)

  • Yes.
  • No.

To change a string, type it.

Put a value here for the attribute you want to modify.

A fresh string

Add a new value for the attribute.
