Inquiry command in AutoCAD

Pick an inquiry type, then choose the data by following the on-screen directions. Once the investigation is complete, you may copy the data to another file, such a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The selection of the data for a query can be done in one of two ways.

You are prompted to choose the data needed for the inquiry when you initially choose the inquiry to execute. If there is just one such item present in the design, it is automatically chosen. Use the object choose buttons once the inquiry is finished. To alter the data selection in the Inquiry Tool box, click or.

You may also do an inquiry by selecting an item in the drawing and using the Inquiry command from the contextual ribbon or the context menu. The selected object automatically selects the type of inquiry that was most recently ran on it.

When you choose the Inquiry command from the contextual ribbon or context menu, you are requested for any additional object input the inquiry needs rather than just the primary object.

Alternately, first choose an item, then pick the General Tools panel.

The Inquiry command from the contextual ribbon will automatically choose the most recent inquiry type for the specified item.

2. Click the Down arrow next to Select An Investigation Type in the Inquiry Tool box to choose the inquiry you want to launch.

You are requested to choose the objects needed for the enquiry after choosing an inquiry type.

Note: A corridor section view has to be active in order to conduct Corridor queries. Pick a hallway. Corridor tab, then select Modify panel. Editor for the corridor. Next, pick the station you want to query. When you want to get a closer look, use the Zoom command.

3. Choose the subjects and places for the investigation. To pick the objects, use the transparent and Osnaps commands.

The Inquiry Tool pane contains the data.

4. Select the new item or place in the drawing by clicking or in the Inquiry Tool window next to a value. This will modify any chosen objects or locations.

RESEARCH METHODS

Using the inquiry tools, you may search for data in a drawing. They are accessible through the Measure drop-down menu in the Ribbon Home tab's Utilities panel.

MEASURE

In the drawing area, the Measure Distance tool shows the separation between two given points.

Expand the Measure drop-down menu in the Utilities panel of the Ribbon Home tab, then select the Measure Distance tool.

When Dynamic Input is enabled, AutoCAD shows data in the Drawing Area and on the command line, such as the separation between two points in the x and y axis and the aligned distance and angle.

RADIUS

The radius of a circle is shown via the measure radius tool.

Expand the Measure drop-down menu in the Utilities panel of the Ribbon Home tab, then select the Measure Radius tool.

Choose a circle. When Dynamic Input is on, AutoCAD shows the radius as a circle. On the command line, the radius and diameter are shown.

Press [Escape] to clear the data and end the command, or [Enter] to start the measurement process over.

ANGLE

The Measure Angle tool displays the angle made by an arc, the angle formed by two lines, or the angle created by a circle.

Expand the Measure drop-down menu in the Utilities panel of the Ribbon Home tab, then select the Measure Angle tool.

AREA

The area of a chosen item or the area between two points is shown using the measure area tool.

Expand the Measure drop-down menu in the Utilities panel of the Ribbon Home tab, then select the Measure Area tool.
