PHP strripos() Function

The strripos() function in PHP finds the position of the last occurrence of a substring in the specified string. It is a case-insensitive and binary-safe function.

Syntax

strripos ( string $haystack , mixed $needle [, int $offset ] )

Parameter

haystack(required)- This parameter signifies the string to be searched.

needle(required)- This parameter represents a string of one or more characters. If it is not a string, it is converted to an integer and applied as the ordinal value of a character.

offset(optional)- This parameter specifies from where to begin the search in the string. If the offset value is zero or positive, the search is performed left to right else for negative offset value the search is performed right to the left.

Return

This function returns the position of the last occurrence of a string inside another specified string, or FALSE if the string is not found.

Example 1

Output

String: Hello my World! Hello my PHP!
The first occurrence position of 'my' is 22
The last occurrence position of 'my' is 6
