Largest State of India

There are twenty-eight states and eight union territories in India. Each of these states and territories has its geographical location and population. In this article, we are going to look at the state based on the longest area. We can measure the efficiency of states based on the population, area they covered, the fertility rate, the literacy rate, and many more.

Largest State Of India

Rajasthan is the longest state of India based on the area with 342,239 Km2. Although Rajasthan is the largest state, when it comes to the measurement in terms of the population, it lacks. We will discuss more in this article about the largest state, i.e., Rajasthan.

Geographical location And Whether

Rajasthan is a state in northwestern India, near the Indian subcontinent's northwest corner. The Punjab and Haryana state borders are its north and northeast, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to the east and southeast, Gujarat to the southwest, and the provinces Sindh and Punjab in Pakistan to the west and northwest. Jaipur, the state's capital, is located in the state's east-central region.

When it comes to the weather in the Rajasthan, it has a diverse climate that ranges from severely dry to extremely humid. The humid zone extends from the southeast to the east. Except in the hills, the summer heat is strong everywhere, with daily temperatures ranging from approximately 30 °C to almost  40° C in June, the hottest month. Summer brings hot winds and dust storms, particularly in the desert.

Population Composition of Rajasthan

Rajasthan is India's seventh most populous state, with a population of 80,782,495 people. However, in 2019, this amount was reported to be 78,356,812. Every year, the state's population grows by about a million people. In 2016, Rajasthan had a population of 74,791,568 people. Rajasthan's population is growing at a slow pace of 1.7 percent each year. As a result, when compared to other Indian states, the annual population growth rate of Rajasthan is regarded to below.

Nearly ninety percent of Rajasthan's population is Hindu, with Muslims making up the largest minority with eight percent of the population. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes account for around 70% and 12% of the state's population, respectively. Jains – Rajasthani merchants and traders - are a prominent presence.

Sex Ratio of Rajasthan

Rajasthan's sex ratio isn't a good predictor of the state's overall growth and development. Compared to other Indian states such as Kerala and Karnataka, the current sex ratio of 926 girls for 1000 males is low. According to the current statistics, only ten districts in Rajasthan have a sex ratio of more than 900. Rajasthan's sex ratio has decreased over the previous two decades, a major source of concern for the government and authorities.

Literacy Rate in Rajasthan

The present literacy rate of the state is 67.1 percent, which is lower than India's general literacy rate of 74 percent. The government has played a significant role in raising the state's literacy rate, which had been quite low over the previous two decades.
