Martial arts are considered respectful and impactful art around the world. People have opted to practice martial arts and own this art very well. Any martial art has a history of origin. Few martial arts processes become best among other styles, and people are fascinated to learn and improve their skill set.
Martial arts are not only about learning for defence but we can also learn it for our improvement. It teaches many life lessons and also helps in making our minds stronger. By practising it, one can keep himself physically fit.
1. Taekwondo

It is a Korean famous martial art. It is mainly known for kicking and punching. Taekwondo is that martial art in which one attacks or defends with their hand and feet anytime and anywhere. It was first played in 1940. Taekwondo players wear a uniform known as a ‘dobok’ at the time of practice. Almost 80 million people practice in more than 203 Countries.
The word Taekwondo contains "Tae," means foot/ kick, "Kwon" means Hand/ Punch, and "Do" means Way / Method/ Art. The first Taekwondo name was used in 1955. On 16th September 1961 Korea Taesudo Association was founded. And later the name was changed to the Korea Taekwondo Association. In the 2000 Olympics, it was first presented as world Taekwondo.
2. Kung fu

It is known as Chinese martial arts. It is mainly focused on hand strikes, kicks, and weapons training like swords and spears. Those who are best in kung-fu styles can now beat the man in the fight easily.
3. Karate

It is the most famous martial art in the world. It is originated from the Ryukyu kingdom. It mainly uses punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow Striker, and open-hand techniques.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the moves of martial arts were famous worldwide, and Karate was taught in schools worldwide. In the Olympics, it was introduced in 2021. The World Karate federation says that there are 100 million people who practice worldwide.
4. Muay Thai

It is one of the famous martial art that arise in the South-East Asian country Thailand. It is called combat sport.It is related to kickboxing and involves elbow and knee strikes and tibia. In the 20th to 21st century, Muay Thai became famous worldwide. Muay Thai was first played in 18th century. Till now, Muay Thai martial art did not played in the Olympic games.
5. Judo

It is a modern martial art originated in Japan by Jigoro Kano in 18821. In this martial art, the primary purpose of the competitor is to throw the opponent and force an opponent to submit with a combined lock or a choke. It was first introduced in the Olympic game in 1964 but only for men. And, in 1992, it was also introduced for women. The Judo player is called "Judoka," and his uniform is called "Judogi.”
6. Kickboxing

It is Japanese martial art and was introduced in 1960. Kickboxing is a stand-up combat sport and a form of boxing which is mainly based on kicking and punching.
It is played in a boxing ring with some protections. Players use the protections like boxing gloves, mouth guards, shorts, and the barefoot to the favor of kicks. People learn these arts for self-defence, fitness, and competition. It is a mixture of karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai and Savate. Until now, it is not introduced in the Olympic games.
7. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

It is a Brazilian martial art introduced by Brazilian brothers Carlos in 1920. It is called Combat sport which is based on ground fighting. In this martial art, the players should focus on how to take an opponent to the ground by using a sharp mind and techniquesto force them to submission by joint locks or chokeholds.Both players played between the same age, weight, and heavier. Its uniform is similar to a judogi, but with different dimensions and light material with tight Cuffs on Pants and Jackets.
8. Krav Maga

It is a martial art form of Israel. It is used for self-defenseand fighting. This martial art system was first introduced to the Israel Defense forcesand Security forces of Israel. Many techniques are taken from aikido, boxing, Judo, Karate, and wrestling.The two great people one is Imi Lichtenfeld and the another one is Yaron Lichtenstein was the grandmaster of Krav Maga.The IDF appointed him to give a five-week Krav Maga instructor course to the Israeli military. When he retired from the IDF, Imi Lichtenfeld decided to open a school and teaches Krav Maga to civilians. In January 1998, he passed away.
9. Sambo

It is a martial art of Russia. It uses throws, traps, and locks to knock down opponents. There are different types of sports, freestyle and combat. Sambo helps in self-defense.
10. Amis

It is the Philippines martial art. It is weapon-based fighting with sticks, knives, blades, weapons, and an open hand. The other name of Amis is Kali/Eskrima.
