Difference between ERP and SAP Software

There are different businesses running in the world. Not only large businesses, the small businesses are also need a lot of planning to run in a smooth manner. All the companies and businesses run in a good way if they are correctly planned the way to approach and work over their businesses. So, all these planning and creating all the business functionalities will be worked properly when you think well. All these business planning can be done using ERP and SRP software. In this article, we are going to study about the factors bringing differences between these two software.

ERP

ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. ERP can be defined as a way of thinking about all the important and the core processes in a business or a company which makes a business or a company to run smoothly. ERP software thinks about all the process like Finance, capital of the company, manufacturing of the goods or products, supply chain and services provided by the company or a business. ERP consists of a lot of concepts related to the business planning. The concepts of ERP can be applied for any type of business from small scale to large scale.

SAP software

SAP stands for System Application and Products in Data Processing. The SAP software was introduced and developed by a group of people from the company named IBM. The SAP software uses the Enterprise Resource Planning techniques and concepts. The data used in the SAP software is real time. So, the real time problems of the different companies and businesses can be identified. The SAP software is designed to manage different resources and the activities that are required to complete the business process. The SAP software can be modified over a business, and it is configurable. The SAP software can be changed in a way that it fulfills the need of a particular business.

Advantages of ERP

  • ERP deals with all the important business processes that are required to run the business in a profitable way.
  • ERP helps in improving the reporting and planning of the different business functionalities.
  •  The efficiency of the business is improved using ERP techniques and concepts.
  • ERP also focuses on decreasing the IT costs that affects the profits of businesses a lot.
  •  The financial management can be done efficiently.

Advantages of SAP software

  • The SAP software is also capable of doing the works that ERP cannot perform.
  • The SAP software helps in the management of human capital or human capital management.
  •  The SAP software can also be used in the plant management under a company.
  • The sales and the distribution can also be handled by the SAP software.

Disadvantages of ERP

  • ERP software implementation is a slow and time taking process.
  • ERP software is expensive software.
  • The pricing of the software is high for a long run-in usage of the software.
  •  The data migration from ERP software takes a lot of time.
  •  It takes a lot of time when you work on the large data of a company or a business.

Disadvantages of SAP software

  • The SAP is high end software, and it is a bit complicated software.
  •  The qualified people can only understand the complexity and able to use the SAP software.
  • The implementation time of the SAP is so lengthy.
  • The SAP software is not much flexible.
