Difference between Domestic HRM and International HRM

What is DHRM?

DHRM is abbreviated as Domestic Human Resource Management. It involves the management of employees of only one country. Domestic Human Resource Management is responsible for overseeing the narrow perspective viewpoint of the company. It searches for human resources in the domestic region only. Domestic Human Resource Management is bound to follow the rules and regulations where the headquarters of the company is situated. In Domestic Human Resource Management, the attitude of the senior employee is always identical at every level. The office of Domestic Human Resource Management is located in the same country. Domestic Human Resource Management policy is applied uniformly all over the country. Citizens of that country are only allowed to work in that country in the Domestic Human Resource Management system. Domestic Human Resource Management carries a low risk. In Domestic Human Resource Management, It is elementary to adopt the culture of the employee. In Domestic Human Resource Management, the seniors and juniors have the same mentality. 

What is IRHM?

IRHM is abbreviated as International Human Resource Management. In International Human Resource Management, the attitude of the senior employee is different at every level. It searches for human resources in other countries. The work of International Human Resource Management can be managed on a global scale. In International Human Resource Management, so many people come from different countries with different cultures. International Human Resource Management carries high risk. They coordinate their effort on a global scale.

Main Differences between DHRM and IHRM

  1. Domestic Human Resource Management is abbreviated as DHRM, whereas International Human Resource Management is abbreviated as IHRM.
  2. Domestic Human Resource Management deals with a narrow perspective because it works in its own country, whereas International Human Resource Management deals with a comprehensive view.
  3. Domestic Human Resource Management is bound to follow the rules and regulations where the headquarters of the company is situated. In contrast, International Human Resource Management follows the laws of different countries. 
  4. In Domestic Human Resource Management, the policies apply to everyone in the country, but in International Human Resource Management, the procedures depend on employees' lives.
  5. The citizen of that country is only allowed to work in that country in the Domestic Human Resource Management system. Still, in International Human Resource Management, the people of various countries can work.
  6. The risk involved in Domestic Human Resource Management is minimal, whereas the risk in the case of International Human Resource Management cannot be minimal.
  7. In Domestic Human Resource Management, It is elementary to adopt the culture of the employee, but it isn't easy in the case of International Human Resource Management.
  8. In Domestic Human Resource Management, the seniors and juniors have the same mentality, whereas, in International Human Resource Management, the attitude of the senior employee is different at every level.

Both internal and external factors can affect Domestic Human Resource Management (DHRM) and International Human Resource Management (IHRM).
