Introduction

Abdul Kalam, whenever we hear this name, the first thing which comes to our mind is simplicity. He was an Indian president. Still, he did not have any attitude. He had many nicknames like missile man and the common person's president. He was the 11th president of India, and he achieved this honor with the help of his work. He was a great scientist. He taught us that your condition does not matter for your success. He was born in a lower-middle-class family. He started his life as a poor guy, but he achieved everything in his life when he died. He proved that to become a famous personality, you don't need to become an actor or politician, or a sportsman, give your best in your field, and after that, you will get fame and success in your life. When he started his career as an engineer, no one could say that he would be India's president, but he made it possible. This article will talk about a great man, Mr. Abdul Kalam.

Early life

He was born in Dhanushkodi, which is a small village in Tamilnadu. He was born in a Muslim family. His father, Jailubdin, was not an educated person. If we talk about his work profile, he has nothing to do. He made some boat and gave it on rent, and that rent was the total income of Kalam's family. They have a long family. Kalam had 9 siblings. Can you imagine how they can fulfill their requirements with little money? In his childhood, his teacher, mister Iyadurai Suleman taught him how a bird could fly with the help of its wings. At that time, Kalam decided that he would go into flight Science. You should know that he was selling newspapers for his college fees early. Even sometimes, he had to sell tamarind seeds to fulfill his needs. In 1950, he completed his engineering at Madras Institute Of Technology. He was part of Hower's craft projects. Because of this experience, he secured his place in the Indian space research organization. It was a great achievement for Kalam because, at an early age, he had some dreams now they will come true.

Kalam's Life As A Scientist

In 1969, he joined Indian Space Research Organisation. Here, he was part of many projects; in his Direction, ISRO launched many satellites; the famous was the SLY satellite launched in 1982. In 1980, he launched the Rohini satellite. Because of this project, India came to the list of those countries that sent their satellites into space. For Kalam, it was an honor. His famous invention was Agni and Prithvi. Can you assume a Muslim guy gave a Hindi name to his invention? It shows that he was a secular guy. In 1992, he was posted as an advisor to Indian Defence Ministery. In 1998 under his leadership, India made its Second nuclear testing in Pokhran. Because of this project, India secured its name on the list of countries with nuclear weapons.

Kalam As An Indian President

2002 was the year when Kalam was elected as the president of India. At that time, Bhartiya Janta Party was the ruling party. They elected Kalam as the Indian 11th president, and the opposition party, the Indian national congress, also gave his support in Kalam's favor. If you are leaving in India, the biggest award for you will be Bharat Ratna, and Kalam secured this award. He was the 11th president of India, but the best thing about Kalam is people called him the president of the common person. It was a big honor for Kalam. He was Indian president from 7July 2002 to 5 July 2007.

After completing his tenure, Kalam decided that he would motivate our youth. For that purpose, Kalam became a visiting professor in various colleges. Some of them were the Indian institute of management Shillong, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. He also joined Indian space science and technology Thiruvananthapuram as a chancellor, and he gave a few classes in Banaras Hindu Vishwa Vidyalaya. These all classes and efforts of Kalam show that he was a great person because, after getting retired from the presidency, no one would like to work for his nation, but Kalam did a lot at that age.   

Some Greatest Achievements Of Kalam

  1. In 1981 kalam secured Padma Bhushan from the Indian government because of his important role in ISRO; he secured Padma Bhushan from the Indian government in 1990.
  2. Because of his scientific invention, Kalam got India's biggest honor, The Bharat Ratna. Those inventions were helpful for the defence technology of India.
  3. In 2012 a famous Indian magazine, Outlook, declared Kalam as 2nd rank greatest Indian of that year.
  4. After his death, the Tamil Nadu government declared that his birthday would be memories of youth Renaissance day. Now on 15 October, they celebrate this day as youth Renaissance Day.
  5. These awards and honors are very few because of Kalam's role. He was an Indian president. Still, he did not make any property or anything else like this. It shows that he was a great guy.

Religious And Spiritual Views

Kalam was a great scientist. He was a proud and hard-working Muslim guy. He always followed the rules of Islam. During some interviews, he told that as a project leader in the ISRO, it is not an easy task to give some time to his religion. Still, Kalam does the 5 times Roja and fasting during Ramjan. Still, he always respected his religion. He always said that his father always taught them to respect every religion. Because of this good lesson, he always respected every religion. A famous fact or rumor about Kalam was that he always carried Gita and Quran in his bag. Because of these things, you can see that he was a down-to-earth man.

Kalam had two personal websites where he posted his thoughts. Even a gram pradhan keeps millions of rupees in India, but Kalam doesn't have something like that. He had only his awards, 2 websites, and a private house when he died. By these all things, you can assume the simplicity of Kalam. He was not involved in any corruption.

At the start of his life, he was just a person selling new paper or tamarind seeds, but he ended his life with the honor of Bharat Ratna. In his seminar, he always used to say one thing, "Chhote Chhote Kadam Bhadhate Raho Manjil Mil Jayegi," which means keep moving with small steps, and you will get your target.

Death of Kalam

On 27 July 2015, Kalam gave a speech at Shillong's management institute. There, he suffered a heart attack. After that, he fell from the stage. People took him to the hospital. There, doctors declared that he was no more. His age was approx 83 years old. After his death, the Indian government declared national grief for seven days.
