Sargun Mehta Dubey is an Indian actress, model, and television personality. She was born on September 6, 1988. She has won two Punjabi Filmfare Awards and three PTC Punjabi Film Awards for her contributions to Punjabi cinema.

Sargun was born on September 6, 1988, in Chandigarh, India. She has a younger sibling. Mehta tried out for the dancing reality series Boogie Woogie as a young child along with her brother. But they were both turned down. Mehta attended the Carmel Convent School and the Sacred Heart Convent School in Chandigarh for her education. She received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Delhi University's Kirori Mal College. After starting her master's program in business management, she eventually dropped out to focus on her acting skills. She was then given a role in the television series 12/24 Karol Bagh.

Mehta gained popularity after appearing in the 2011 television show Phulwa. She was eventually offered the 2012 film Kya Huaa Tera Vaada. She made a name for herself as the main actor when she appeared in the 2013 drama Balika Vadhu on Colors TV.

Personal Life

In 2009, Mehta started dating her co-star Ravi Dubey from the television series 12/24 Karol Bagh. In December 2013, they got married. In an interview with India Times on February 5, 2013, Mehta declared that she and Dubey always had a strong relationship and mutual understanding. But after working on Nach Baliye together, they have a better professional understanding of one another. She adopted the name Sargun Mehta Dubey after getting married.

Acting career

Mehta's career started with performances in the theatre. She participated in various theatre plays throughout her three years of college in Delhi. Later, she was chosen for a supporting role in the Zee TV series 12/24 Karol Bagh, which premiered in 2009. In the serial, she played the cheerful young woman Neetu Sethi role alongside Ravi Dubey.

In the serial, the children of the Sethi family, who reside in Delhi's middle-class neighborhood of Karol Bagh, are Simi, Anuj, Neetu, and Mili. Neetu, one of the four children, gets married to Omi. Omi is a person with intellectual disabilities. Ravi Dubey played the role. Mehta said in a discussion with The Hindu that she accidentally earned the part, her friends and Sargun Mehta from the theatrical club were requested by one of the instructors to apply for the role, and she ended up getting Neetu's part."

Mehta played the major role in Apno Ke Liye Geeta Ka Dharmayudh, a subsequent Zee TV production before the show was going to be ended. She portrayed the character of Geeta in the program, which debuted in December 2010. In her role, she fought for the truth and prevented her family from going bankrupt due to the abuse of Section 498A. Section 498A is meant to protect women from domestic violence and abuse. She left the program in May 2011 since it did not become popular.

 Mehta appeared in Siddharth Tewary's television drama Phulwa on Colors TV in January 2011 as the main protagonist alongside Ajay Chaudhary. In the serial, she portrayed the lead character. The dacoit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi is the subject of the narrative, which is partially based on her life. Most recently, she played the submissive Ganga in the Colors television drama Balika Vadhu. Production on the show started on April 16, 2015. After ten program episodes were produced, she appeared alongside a large ensemble cast that included Eijaz Khan, Usha Nadkarni, Ratan Rajput, Anupam Shyam, Karan Mehra, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan Tejwani, Sayantani Ghosh, and Karan Grover. Deepika, a runaway bride who had to flee her abusive police inspector fiancé, was the focus of the performance. Deepika stumbles onto a fair where she encounters ladies, each of whom has a unique tale to share. On May 8, 2015, the program ended its run. In the music video for "Titliaan," Sargun Mehta co-stars with Harrdy Sandhu.

A Career in Punjabi Films

Mehta made her acting debut in the Simerjit Singh-directed Punjabi film Angrej in July 2015. The movie also starred Amrinder Gill and Aditi Sharma. She played the main character role, Dhan Kaur, in the movie. The movie had a strong start in India, grossing 40.50 million rupees (US$510,000) in its first week. The movie became the second-highest-grossing Punjabi movie of 2015 after earning 124.5 million (US$1.6 million) in overseas markets in just 17 days.

 She had an appearance as Jessica Brar in the 2016 film Love Punjab. She received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Punjabi Films) for her Jessica-centered performance.

 She made appearances in the films Jindua as Saggi and Lahoriye as Amiran in 2017. The latter of which earned her a second Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She won the PTC Film Awards for Best Actress in 2018 for her role as Baani in Qismat.

 She co-starred in the financial success Kala Shah Kala with Binnu Dhillon in 2019. The movie is now the highest-grossing Punjabi film of the year. Her next album, alongside Gippy Grewal, was titled Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh. Surkhi Bindi, a collaboration with Gurnam Bhullar, was her third release of the year. Gurnaaz of The Tribune gave high acclaim to Mehta's performance, saying, "Watch it for the superb act shown by Sargun Mehta and Gurnam Bhullar, their exciting love story, and a happy conclusion that sticks with you long after you go out of the theater." With Binnu Dhillon as her co-star, she co-produced the quirky comedy Jhalle. She released the movie as her fourth film. The launch date was November 15.

On September 24, 2021, she published Qismat 2, a follow-up to Qismat from the previous year.

Mehta and Kapil Sharma appeared in the October 2012 episode of Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobe, a reality-based Comedy Circus program on Sony Entertainment Television. It was her first attempt at comedic acting. She left the show in January 2013 because of her hectic schedule, which included several other shows.

Mehta participated in the Fashion Ka Jalwa runway show on November 4, 2012, as part of the famous Indian Television Academy (ITA) fashion event. Mehta took part in the fifth season of the celebrity-pair dance reality series Nach Baliye on Star Plus in December 2012. On the March 23 finale episode, she appeared with Ravi Dubey and revealed that she had placed first runner-up in the competition. Mehta appeared as a special guest on the Comedy Nights with the Kapil episode about Pinky Bua's (Upasana Singh's) wedding on Colors Television in the middle of February 2014.
