Today, India is included in developed nations, and many industrialists have made a huge contribution. And thus, in this article, we will discuss the biography of one such industrialist, Ratan Tata.

Who Is Ratan Tata?

Ratan Tata is a great Indian industrialist born on 28 December 1937. He is a great industrialist of India, but he is also the most prominent Philanthropist in India. He is the formal Chairman of India's biggest private limited company, The Tata sons. From 1990 to 2012, he holds the position of Chairman of Tata Group. He Secured Two great civilian awards from India the first one was Padm Vibhushan which came in 2008, and the second one was Padm Bhushan which came in 2000. Hopefully, he will soon get India's all-time greatest award, The Bharat Ratna.

He was born in 1937. His father, Mr. Naval tata, was adopted by Ratanji Tata, the son of Jamsetji Tata. Jamsetji Tata was the founder of the Tata group. He was a student at Cornell University. He joined the tata group in 1961. he started his career with tata steel. He acquired some fabulous tata companies; some were Tata Tea, Tatley, and Tata motors. Based on great responses from these companies, he secured the chairman post in tata Grop.

Early Life

He was born during the British Raj on 28 December 1937 in India's famous city, Bombay, known as Mumbai. He is son of Nuval Tata( Born in Surat). He started his study in Mumbai. His first School was Campion school of Mumbai. From this School, he completed his early education. After this, he went Newyork to complete his graduation. He was admitted to Newyork's famous college, "Riverdale Country College," and from here, he secured his degree in architecture. He also attended a 7-week advanced management program at Harvard Business school. At the age of 21, he got authority in Tata groups. Under his leadership, the revenue of Tata group grew over 40 times, and profit has multiplied by 50 times. Under his leadership, he elaborated Tata group all over the world. The 65 percent profit of tata Groups was coming from other countries, which was a great response for Tata group. In 2015 under his leadership, Tata motor launched a new product in the form of Tata Nano.

Tata Nano, The Only Failure Of Ratan Tata

If you want to purchase a car in any country, you must pay approximately four lakh to 10 lakh. Most people can not afford that much money to purchase a car in India. Because of this problem, in 2015, Tata Motors launched a car whose price was too low. The Road price of Tata Nano was 1,50,000. At this price, it was a fabulous car. But it was a failed product of Tata. Indians felt ashamed while purchasing this car as it had only three seats.

Tata Sons vs. Syrus Mistri

On 24 October 2016, the board of directors of the tata group voted for the removal of their Chairman, Mr. Syrus Mistri. Every member of that board wanted to see Ratan tata as their Chairman. In February 2017, Syrus resigned from his position, but he did not accept the board member's decision. He went to National Company Law Appellate Tribunal ( A court for solving  Business matters). In December 2019, NCLA decided that the removal of Syrus Mistri from the Tata group was illegal. Because of this illegal decision, Tata group had to pay 87$ as a Penalty to Mr. Syrus. After this announcement, the Tata group went to the Supreme court for this case. In 2020 Supreme court gave its decision in favor of Syrus.

Philanthropy Work

A person who doesn't have money will always think of donation and charity, but when he gets money then, he forgets all these things, but this fact has declined in the case of Ratan Tata. Ratan tata has a big heart. He always pays a lot of money to charity work. Tata group is a supporter of Medicine Education and Rural Development. Tata group helped the University of New South Wales Faculty of Management to apply capacitive deionization. Capacitive Deionization is a modern methodology by which we can easily fulfill the need for water in a Challenged area. In November 2014, California San Diego University launched a research organization that works on Vector born disease. For making this research center, the Tata group donated 70 Billion Dollars, and as a result, they announced a hall named Tata Hall. It was a great achievement for the Tata group.

Donations In The Field Of Education And Development

Tata has several trusts; some are Tata Education and Development Trust. In 2017 this Trust donated 28 Billion dollars in the form of charity. This charity was helpful for those students who are pursuing any graduation from cornel University. In the form of a scholarship, this fund will be given to those students who have cleared the entrance exam of cornel universities. This is a great step by Tata Grop.

In 2010  Tata Group donated a huge amount to construct an executive center at Harvard Business School. That amount was 50 million dollars. For this charity, they made a hall named Tata hall.  

Honors And Awards

In 2000, Ratan Tata secured India's second-highest civilian award Padma Bhushan. This award used to be given to individuals to contribute to education and development. In 2008 he secured India's third-highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan. In 2021 he got Assam's highest civilian award, "Assam Bhaibhav" he got this award for his donations to the cancer care of Assam. 

Love Story Of Mr. Tata

During an interview, when the interviewer asked Tata why he did not marry, and as a reply to this question, Tata said that he was working in Los Angeles at an early age. During his work, he loved a girl, but Tata returned to India because of a family member's illness. When he was coming to India, he met the girl's parents. He told them that they both loved each other and wanted to get married. After listening to both concerns, the girl's parents decide that they will not leave their daughter for India. At that time, Tata was sad, and as a true lover, he decided that he would never get married in his entire life. It shows the loyalty of Mr. Tata.

Still, He Is Serving His Country

In 2012 he got retirement from his work, and at that time, he said that now he would do some social work for his country, but in 2016 when Syrus Mistri left the tata group, Tata decided that he would hold the chair of Chairman. In 2017 again, he took retirement from his job, and still, he is doing some social work for his country.

We Need Some People Like Ratan Tata

He is a great industrialist. He is a philanthropist, and he is a great person by heart. He is a person who always respects each community and religion. He belongs to a Parsi family, and still, he loves Hindus and Muslims. Because of these, we can easily say that we need more people like Ratan Tata.
