His first game was an International contest that took place in 2014–15 against Australia. KL Rahul made a big impression on everyone by hitting 110 runs in just his second test match. Lokesh Rahul became the first Indian player to achieve a century in his debut ODI game. In a game played in Harare against Zimbabwe, he made his ODI debut. Lokesh Rahul set the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history in 2018 by scoring 50 runs in just 14 balls. Rahul cost Kings XI Punjab 11 crores at the IPL auction.

EARLY LIFE

KN Lokesh and Rajeshwari welcomed Rahul into the world on April 18, 1992, in Bangalore. Father Lokesh of K.L. Rahul is a professor and a former director of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Mangalore. He was born in Kannur, Magadi Taluk. Professor Rajeshwari, his mother, teaches at Mangalore University. Lokesh admired Sunil Gavaskar and decided to name his child after the cricketer, but he mistakenly believed Gavaskar's name was Rahul.

Rahul was nurtured in Mangalore and completed his pre-university education at St. Aloysius College before completing his high school coursework at NITK English Medium School. He started his cricket training at age 10. Two years later, he began playing for both his club in Mangalore and Bangalore United Cricket Club. He relocated to Bangalore at the age of 18 to attend Jain University and further his cricket career.

Right-handed batsman KL Rahul also occasionally keeps the wicket when batting. He is a flexible batsman. He opens the batting for India in T20s and Tests and bats in the middle order in ODIs. One of the most admired opening batters in India's upcoming generation is KL Rahul. He is a right-handed batsman who is tall and graceful and who, in a pinch, can keep a wicket. Being a naturally aggressive hitter, he may alter his approach according to the circumstance.

"Rahul has performed outstandingly throughout the past two IPLs. Take a look at how quickly he has been scoring; he makes true cricket strokes. He occasionally uses the scoop or reverses sweep, but he doesn't need to because he is familiar with all the standard cricket shots."November 2021, Sunil Gavaskar

Brian Lara commended KL Rahul when asked to name the current batsman he enjoys watching, stating, "That's easy, KL Rahul. If you're referring to the two competing teams, KL Rahul is unquestionably a player I would pay to watch bat. I adore seeing KL Rahul play. It's truly amazing to watch a player bat with the technique and capacity to score runs with conventional batting swings, especially in the T20 edition of the game. He interests me because, two or three years ago, he was likely a Test-match batter who was more technically correct. But his T20 batting performance in the last two IPL tournaments has been remarkable. It doesn't happen very often, but he is now developing into a better white-ball player than a Test match player”. -Brian Lara, December 2020

KL Rahul's Performance

K.L. Rahul

Domestic Cricket

While representing Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy match against Hyderabad, Rahul made his first-class debut. He participated in the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup for India. In six innings, he scored 143 runs.

He was discharged from the Karnataka team for the next season. He did, however, return in the 2012–2013 season. He ran for 1033 runs from 2013 to 2014. He had the second-best scoring total at the end of the season. Karnataka won the Ranji Trophy as a result of his efforts. Due to his achievements in the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore hired him in 2013. (IPL)

Indian Team

Rahul competed in the Duleep Trophy in 2014–15, and as a result of his success, the Indian team selected him. In December 2014, he then competed for an Indian team in Australia. He substituted Rohit Sharma after making his debut in the Day Test in Melbourne. Given that he scored three and one in both innings, the Test match did not go smoothly.

Rahul, though, strengthened his case for a spot in the team by making a stunning 110 in the following Test match, which was played in Sydney. He and Captain Virat Kohli scored 141 runs together in the game. Due to his subpar performance in Sri Lanka, he was once again shown the way out. He only scored 126 runs in six innings during that time, compared to 108 runs in the second Test match of the series.

ODI and T20I Debut

In 2016, Rahul was selected for the team that travelled to Zimbabwe. At the Harare Sports Club, where he played his maiden ODI against Zimbabwe, he scored an unbeaten 100*(115). He was at that stage the first Indian player to achieve a century in an ODI. He was named the series' man of the match on his first ODI and also made his T20 International debut later on in the same tour.

First World Cup

In April 2019, he was a member of India's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. In the first two games, he batted at position four, but Shikhar Dhawan's injury made him back to open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma.

Rahul made 57 runs and contributed to a 136-run opening stand with Rohit Sharma in the world cup's opening match against Pakistan. KL hit 112 runs in the last league match against Sri Lanka, marking his first World Cup hundred for India. With 361 runs total, two fifty-run innings, and a hundred, KL finished the tournament as India's third-highest run-scorer, behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Advancement In The Ranks

Rahul was chosen for the 2016 Indian tour of the West Indies. Rahul participated in the second Test in Jamaica and recorded his highest Test score of powerful 158. He made Test debut history by doing so, being the first Indian opener to score a century in the West Indies. He struck an unbeaten century 110* off 51 balls in the opening T20I of the series in the United States, the second-fastest century ever and the fastest century by an Indian (46 balls). In addition, he established a world record by becoming the only player to reach 100 runs in the opening innings of both Tests and ODIs.

K.L. Rahul

Rahul beat Ahmed Shehzad's previous record of 76 innings to become the batter to score hundreds in all three formats most quickly, in just 20 innings. In T20I history, he is the only player ever to hit a century (110*) while batting at number four or lower. Rahul scored a century in his second T20 International match against England on July 3. He is also the first Indian batsman to be dismissed by a hit wicket in T20Is.

Complications and Comebacks

Due to several injuries, he had to refrain from playing cricket. With his first century, Rahul ultimately made a comeback on home soil. In the Test match against England played in Chennai in December 2016, he gave a strong performance. He was on the verge of scoring a double century when he misplayed a shot and was out for 199 runs.

During India's 2017 tour of Sri Lanka, Lokesh Rahul was used as a test player at position four. It went horribly wrong when he could only score 28 runs in three games while playing this position. He hasn't played in an ODI since then for the Indian team.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India extended the bans on Hardik Pandya and K. L. Rahul on January 11 as a result of their inflammatory remarks made on Koffee with Karan earlier in the month.

Captaining India For The First Time

Rahul became India's 34th Test captain when he took the helm for the first time during a test match against South Africa in January 2022. On his leadership debut, he scored fifty. Rahul gave it his all, but he was unable to lead India to victory in the second Test, which they lost by a margin of seven wickets. Despite India losing the series to South Africa 3-0, he made his ODI captaincy debut in the first ODI against South Africa, becoming the 26th ODI captain of India.

The Year 2022

K.L. Rahul

In February 2022, Rahul scored 49 (48) runs for India against the West Indies in the second one-day International to attain the milestone of 6,000 runs in all forms of international cricket. Rahul suffered an upper left hamstring strain in the same ODI and was forced to withdraw from the following ODI as well as the impending T20I series against the West Indies. Rahul was named captain for the South African tour to India in June, but he was unable to participate in the series due to a groin injury. KL Rahul made it known that he was dating Athiya Shetty in March 2022.
