Kumar Sanu - Biography

Kumar Sanu

In West Bengal, on October 20, 1957, Kumar Sanu was born in Kolkata. Along with his parents and older sister, he lived in the Sindhi section of Kolkata. His father, a musician, and vocalist who also goes by the name Pashupati Bhattacharya Kumar is Kedarnath Bhattacharya, and he is the one who gave him that name. Both the music and tabla playing were things he taught Sanu. After obtaining a degree in business from the University of Calcutta, Sanu began giving regular performances in 1979. In 1984, he also started singing professionally, performing at functions and cafés all across Calcutta. He was influenced by the Indian singer-songwriter, Kishore Kumar. His peculiar vocal technique emerged later on.

Early Life

In his early years, Pashupati Bhattacharya, Kumar Sanu's father, was a composer and singer. They resided in the Sinthee neighborhood of Calcutta (now Kolkata), close to Biswanath Park, along with Sanu's older sister. In the Sinthi neighborhood of North Kolkata, Kumar Sanu resided at Panchanan Tala on Gopal Bose Lane.

His life has included two marriages for Kumar Sanu. Rita Bhattacharya was the first wife he wed in the 1980s. Jiko, Jassi, & Jaan Kumar Sanu were his three children with Rita Bhattacharya. Jaan Kumar Sanu appeared in the 14th season of Bigg Boss. Jaan Kumar Sanu, Kumar Sanu's son, also performs music. During the height of his fame, the name KuSSSmar Sanu was also connected to Meenakshi, a Bollywood actress. He had to end the relationship with his first wife as a result. After he and Rita divorced, Kumar Sanu remarried Saloni, but also not Meenakshi, another Rajasthani woman. In his union with Saloni, Kumar Sanu was the father of two daughters, Sanno & Anna.

Education

Even though we know that Kumar Sanu studied at Calcutta University he has not yet provided much information regarding his education. He received a bachelor's degree in commerce from college before enrolling in classes for singing and acting. He worked hard to develop his singing career, and he did it brilliantly.

Career

  • The many phases of Kumar Sanu's career could be broken down by the difficulties he first faced on his way to becoming a Bollywood singing sensation.
  • The Initial Phase Sanu then relocated to Mumbai, where he was allowed to sing in the Kalyanji-Anandji movie Jadoogar. Kalyanji-Anandji suggested that he change his name from Kedar Bhattacharya to Kumar Sanu due to the widespread caste- and region-based bias in Bollywood.
  • He adds that this will increase his appeal to people outside of Bengalis.

A 90s-Era Career

  • In 1990, the film Aashiqui helped Sanu establish a significant presence in Bollywood. Sanu was able to record all but one of the film's songs with the help of Nadeem-Shravan, who also composed the soundtrack. Overnight, Sanu gained enigmatic fame.
  • He performed several well-known songs from the movie Aashiqui, including Sanson ki zaroorat hai jaise, Tu meri Zindagi hain, and Nazar ke saamne.
  • Sanu quickly rose to the top of the list among music aficionados after all these big successes with Nadeem-Shravan.
  • He also received five straight wins for best playback singer, which helped him gain notoriety.
  • He performed the music for several popular films, including Pardes, Deewana, Sadak, Baazigar, and Saajan. It is correct that Sanu's singing career started to decline in the late 1990s, although Sonu's fame rose in the 1990s thanks to his big successes.
  • Later, he began performing, taking part in a Bengali movie, and presenting Bengali & Hindi television shows. Several events have seen him perform.

Other Work

  • Kishore Ki Yaadein, a selection from the beginning of his career, is one of the albums of songs by Kishore Kumar that Sanu has released. Then followed the Yaadein series, where he sang alongside singers Abhijeet Bhattacharya & Vinod Rathod on several Kishore Kumar tunes.
  • Sanu has written music for several Indian movies. Among these, Utthaan & Yeh Sunday Kyun Aata Hai stands out the most. Many different singers contributed their voices to his songs, including  Sapna Mukherjee, Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Hema Sardesai, Anuradha Paudwal,  Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Nigam, Lata Mangeshkar, Sunidhi Chauhan, and many more. Critically recognized songs include "Yeh Kaisa Utthhan Hai" (performed by Asha Bhosle & Sonu Nigam in two distinct versions) & "Jisne Sapna Dekha" (performed by Sanu himself).
  • He and singer Udit Narayan performed the title track for the television program Yeh Duniya Gazab Ki.
  • The title track for the 2017 television program "Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hain," which will be inspired by a 19s narrative, was sung by Sanu and Sadhna Sargam. Sanu also had a brief guest appearance on the show. He sang a little bit for Star Plus's "Kulfi Kumarr Bajewala" in 2019.
  • He has stated an interest in creating movies in addition to singing and providing music for motion pictures. He produced Utthaan, his debut Hindi movie, in 2006.
  • Together with fellow producer Rakesh Bhatia, he is currently working on a brand-new production titled Yeh Sunday Kyun Aata Hai. The movie is centered just on the lives of four kids who work at a train station polishing shoes while living on the streets of Mumbai. Mithun Chakraborty will play the lead in the movie.
  • Sanu most recently provided vocals for the Bangladeshi Bengali movie Hason Raja, which has been helmed by UK-based director Ruhul Amin. The film was never made and released. Additionally, he provided the music for the Bengali films Tobu Aporichito and Amrita. Sanu served on the judging panel for the reality show Waar Parriwar, which was shown on Sony TV and Zee TV, and for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, a music competition program.
  • He served as a judge for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - Gane Gane Tomar Mone, a musical television show on Zee Bangla in 2012. He currently serves as one of the panelists on the Super Singer judges' panel on Star Jalsha, a well-liked musical reality show.
  • His most recent album, Hum Aur Tum, was recorded. Also for an album, he made a song in Spanish. He also owns the record for the most recordings made in one day with 28 songs, which is a global record.
  • In addition, he played a brief appearance in the roles of an actor in two movies from 1999, Sapne Sajan Ke Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain as well as Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). Sanu is indeed a trustee & brand ambassador for the cerebral palsy charity Bishwa Bandhan.
  • Sanu established the Kumar Sanu Vidya Niketan in Karol Bagh, Delhi, as a primary school for disadvantaged kids. Books and clothing are provided without charge to the students. 
  • Sanu worked on "Mohabbat Mein there Sanam" in 2022 with two young singers, music director Vaibhav Saxena, and a new-age record label called Music Records. The song was released and distributed globally.

Politics

Politics In a ceremony officiated by the party's then-president Venkaiah Naidu, he entered political Bharatiya Janata in 2004. However, he eventually left the party to focus only on singing.  On December 2, 2014, Amit Shah re-inducted himself into the BJP.

Comeback

In 2012, Kumar Sanu made a comeback to playback singing. At the urging of the composer Sajid-Wajid, he made a comeback. Rowdy Rathore's "Chammak Challo Chhail Chhabili," a wedding song featuring Shreya Ghoshal, was given to him by Sajid-Wajid. Throughout 2015, Kumar Sanu took Lata Mangeshkar's place as the Yash Raj Films logo's background voice for the movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha. This was the first time Lata Mangeshkar's voice has been substituted in YRF's 45-year existence.

  • "Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan" in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam received a nomination for an IIFA Award in 2000 for Best Male Playback; the Kalashree Prize for Outstanding Male Playback went to "Chaand Sitare" from Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai in the same year. For "Dil ne yeh," which featured Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, in 2000, the MTV Award and the IIFA were both nominated. 1999: Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam's "Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan" won the Mohammed Rafi Legacy Award for Outstanding Playback Singer.
