Palak Muchhal

Education and Basic Information

Palak Muchhal, who comes from a Maheshwari Marwari family, attended Shree Agrasen Vidyalaya for her secondary education and earned her B. Com. graduation at Indore. Her mother, Amita Muchhal, works as a homemaker, and her father, Rajkumar Muchhal, works with a private company. She also has a younger brother named Palash Muchhal.

Palak Muchhal is an accomplished and versatile artist. She now makes a living by performing the song; in 2010, she also had a television appearance. Alongside Abhishek Bachchan & Deepika Padukone, she made her theatrical feature debut in the action movie "Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey" in a supporting role. Since then, she hasn't appeared in any TV programs. Instead, she has previously served as a judge for musical contests, including "The Voice India Kids."

Career in Music

Palak moved to Mumbai from Indore in 2006 to pursue her profession as a Bollywood vocalist. She had six non-film records released during her adolescence and childhood, and she had a burning desire to become a playback singer since she was a young girl. When she was nine years old, Tips Music published her first album, "Child for Children," released in 2001. After the release of her second album, "Palken," in 2003, she continued to release more of her tracks in this way, including "Dil ke Liye" and "Aao Tumhe Chand Per Le Jaaye." 2011 saw the release of her religious, spiritual song collection "Jai Jai Dev Ganesh" by T-Series. Finally, she sang her debut Bollywood song in the 2011 movie "Damadamm," which received many positive reviews. For the movie "Na Jaane Kabse," she recorded her 2nd song, "Pyaar Ke Silsile," in the same year. The film and the soundtrack, however, received unfavourable reviews.

When she met Salman Khan in Mumbai, Muchhal was familiar with him. Khan had already suggested her name to 'Sajid-Wajid', the musician who had composed the soundtrack for his film Veer. He had also given Yash Raj Productions her name as a suggestion. The track "Laapata," used in the 2012 blockbuster movie Ek Tha Tiger, was created by Muchhal and KK for the Yash Raj labels as a result of the recommendation. The musical single featured Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif as the leads. She was introduced to the Hindi music industry through the song, which was a tremendous hit for the year.

She gave a favourable performance in the song "Nainon Ne Nainon Se" for the movie From Sydney with Love that same year, in 2012. Muchhal provided two songs for Mithoon and Jeet Gannguli, who composed the soundtrack for the movie Aashiqui 2 at the beginning of 2013. Her single "Chahun Main Yaa Na" proved her next significant breakthrough after Ek Tha Tiger's "Laapata" became her identifying debut in the Hindi music industry, and the album for Aashiqui 2 earned favourable reviews. For the April 2013 Bengali release Rocky, Muchhal also sang the song "Tui Borsha Bikeler Dheu" in Bengali. After officially entering the Hindi music world, she performed several of Himesh Reshammiya's songs. In 2014, she collaborated with Mika Singh on Reshammiya's song "Jumme Ki Raat," which ultimately became the year's most considerable success. Later, she sang the song again, this time with Salman Khan on vocals. She also played the lead vocalist in the Salman Khan movie 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' in 2015. She provided her vocals to "Kaun Tujhe," one of the year's best female songs from Amaal Mallik's 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story in 2016. Most of her songs have been written by Reshammiya, Gannguli, Mithoon, & Amaal Mallik. She co-wrote the popular Kannada song "Enammi Enammi" with Vijay Prakash in 2018.

Muchhal attributes her much-needed start in the Hindi music industry to Salman Khan. She believes her career as a singer in the industry would've been delayed and less flawless than it was if Salman Khan had not suggested her name.

Social Service

Palak is renowned for her humanitarian and charitable endeavours and playback singer work. She is particularly well known for supporting those who need heart surgery but cannot afford it.

Muchhal joined the young vocalists' ensemble Kalyanji-Anandji Little Star when she was four. When she was seven years old, she spent a week singing and dancing in front of shoppers in her hometown of Indore to collect funds for the families of Indian soldiers who had died in the 1999 Kargil War. Her activities received extensive media coverage in India, and she ended up with 25,000 rupees. Later that year, she performed to collect money for the survivors of the 1999 cyclone in Odisha.

One day, she decided to use her singing talent to benefit others while riding a train and witnessing poor children using their clothes to clean train compartments. Around the same time, teachers from Indore's Nidhi Vinay Mandir got in touch with Muchhal and her family to ask for help organizing a charity event to raise money for their congenitally heart-affected youngster, Lokesh. Lokesh's father, a small shoe store owner, couldn't afford to pay for his son's expensive heart operation. Muchhal and her parents agreed to stage a performance, and in March 2000, she converted a cart belonging to a roadside seller into a stage to gather Rs 51,000 to pay for the boy's surgery. Due to the publicity that followed, Lokesh's procedure was freed by Bengaluru-based heart surgeon Devi Prasad Shetty. Advertisements for donations were published in neighbourhood newspapers by Palak's parents in support of kids like Lokesh who needed heart surgery. Thirty-three children were identified as needing heart surgery as a result of this.

Later that year, several charitable activities were held, and Rs 2,25,000 was raised. The money was used to pay for five children's heart operations at the Bhandari Hospital in Bangalore and Indore. T. Choithram Hospital in Indore offered to help Muchhal in her mission to save children's lives at a fair price. One of the hospital's doctors agreed to waive his fee for patients whom Muchhal sent in, cutting the cost of the operation in half from 80,000 to 40,000 rupees.

Since 2000, Muchhal has performed extensively for her charitable initiatives, "Dil Se Dil Tak" in Hindi and "Save Little Hearts" in English. Her younger brother Palash also participates in concerts to help fund research for kids with kidney disease. Each show features about 40 songs by Muchhal, including Bhajans, Ghazals, and Hindi movie music. She is proficient in 17 different Indian dialects.

At Secunderabad's Mahboob College, where she and her brother Palash regularly sang, Palak became a phenomenon. As a result, their careers were launched. Muchhal gave the survivors of the Gujarat earthquake in 2001 about 10 lakh rupees. In July 2003, Muchhal used the money she raised for charity to provide financial assistance to the Pakistani parents of a two-year-old child with a hole in her heart. "Palak Muchhal Heart Foundation" is the name of the charitable organization she owns. In 2006, the "Rang De Basanti Salaam" program on the Star Gold channel featured Muchhal as one of five heroic tales. By the end of June 2009, Muchhal has done 1,460 charitable events worldwide, bringing in a total of Rs. 1.71 crores for the Foundation. These contributions resulted in the rescue of 338 children.

The surgeons permit Muchhal to be in the operating room. She performs the procedure while reciting the Jain Navkar Mantra while donning her surgical robe in the hospital. Muchhal receives a doll for each child whose life she improves via her work, but she and her parents do not receive financial gain from philanthropic activities.

Muchhal, who uses her live performances to raise money for underprivileged children, claimed during the Covid-19-induced suspension that over 400 children's procedures had been suspended because the lack of live performances had impeded the flow of funding. She claimed that because several of them were in serious condition and needed surgery immediately, she felt responsible for arranging it.

Since there were no performances, she started to wonder how she would be able to finance those procedures. Online music events subsequently began to occur. She continued supporting practices by working almost every other day, fulfilling her goal of enabling children to have surgery.

As of June 2021, sources claim Palak supported 2277 cardiac operations.

Controversy

Muchhal reported being followed and threatened by a stranger in a police report she made in June 2018 at a Mumbai police station. In her statement, she claimed that she had been getting calls and texts from an unknown number. The caller begged to meet her and identified themselves as a huge fan. The man allegedly persisted and texted and contacted her after she politely declined. Muchhal initially tried to ignore him, but things got worse when his texts became hostile and abusive. In response to the report, police detained the offender, 30-year-old Bihar lecturer Rajesh Shukla, close to the CSMT train station. According to reports, the man went to Mumbai to meet the artist.

Praise and Appreciation

  • Muchhal has won multiple awards for her singing, but her philanthropic activity has received the most attention.
  • The 'National Child Award For Exceptional Achievement was given to Muchhal in 2000 in the form of a Silver Medal by the country's vice president at the time, Krishan Kant.
  • She is listed in both the Limca Book of World Records and the Guinness Book of World Records for her achievements in the field of human services.
