Earlier Life

M.S. Dhoni

Dhoni was born in Ranchi, Bihar, to a Hindu Rajput family (now in Jharkhand). His ancestral hometown, Lwali, is located in the Langara block of Uttarakhand's Almora district, in the Jainti tehsil.

M.S. Dhoni

His parents are Pan Singh and Devaki Devin, and in addition, his uncle and relatives spell their surname Dhauni differently from Dhoni since they come from Uttarakhand. His parents traveled from Uttarakhand to Ranchi, Jharkhand, where his father worked for MECON.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni studied at the D.A.V. Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Shyamali, Ranchi, Jharkhand, where he flourished as an athlete. Initially, he took an interest in football and badminton more than cricket.

Dhoni was selected to play for a local cricket club during his football career. He was selected for 1997/98 Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under-16 Championship based on his club cricket performance. And due to his outstanding wicket-keeping talent, he became the Commando Cricket Club's wicketkeeper from 1995 to 1998.

After passing the 10th exam, Mahi(Nickname) gave more attention to cricket. While playing cricket, this veteran player had to compromise his education. Thus, Mahi left education after the 12th standard.

About his early career

Mahi was selected to play for central Coal Field Limited when the great Indian cricketer was playing cricket only at school and club level in 1998. Mahi, meanwhile, impressed former Cricket Association president Deval Sahay with his determination, hard work, and good performance. Dhoni was therefore permitted to play first-class cricket.

From 1998-to 1999, Mahi was unable to get into East Zone U-19 team or any other Indian domestic team, but in the following year, Mahi was selected for the East Zone U-19 team for the CK Naidu Trophy. Unfortunately, Dhoni's team did not perform well this time, which resulted in his team slipping to the bottom.

One-day International(ODI) career

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was selected for the National ODIs in 2004-2005 due to his consistent performance. Dhoni was unsuccessful in his first ODI against Bangladesh and was dismissed for zero. Even after a poor performance, Dhoni's fortunes helped him, and that is why the selection committee for the one-day international against Pakistan showed confidence in him once again. This time, however, Dhoni did not disappoint the selectors and cricket fans, and in this match, he performed well against Pakistan.
