Getting to know the fan and finding love:

In 1996, Poove Unakkaga, Vijay's most recent film, did exceptionally well at the box office and earned him some respect. His acting in the movie received high marks from critics and fans from the local Tamil community and Tamils living abroad. Vijay was busy shooting at Film City in Chennai for his upcoming movie, for which he was prepared. Vijay was hailed by a lovely woman who introduced herself as Sangeetha Sornalingam during one of his filming breaks. Vijay warmly received her, and the two had a lengthy conversation. She had watched his most recent movie, Poove Unakkaga, as the daughter of a Tamil industrialist from Sri Lanka who had migrated to the U.K. She had been captivated by Vijay's performance in the film.

She chose to see Vijay while she was in Chennai to express her admiration for his work in person. She did something kind for Vijay, who was moved by it and asked if she would also be interested in going to his house to meet his parents. Sangeetha gladly concurred, and they met Vijay's parents at home for their subsequent meeting. The initial meeting was a casual conversation, and later in an interview, Vijay's mother, Shoba Chandrasekhar, revealed that they had never considered her as their future daughter-in-law. However, Vijay's parents were undoubtedly affected by their first encounter with the girl.

A film Career:

1984 – 2003: Entry into leadership roles as a child actor:

VIJAY

At age 10, Vijay began his acting career with the movie Vetri (1984). He then worked as a kid actor in films like Kudumbam (1984), Vasantha Raagam (1986), Sattam Oru Vilayaattu (1987), and Ithu Engal Neethi (1988). Additionally, he played a kid actor in the 1985 film Naan Sigappu Manithan, which also had Rajinikanth in a significant role. Five hundred rupees was Vijay's first payment as a child actor in 1984's Vetri, which was produced and starred alongside legendary actor-producer P. S. Veerappa. Vijay performed in two vintage film visual styles, including Eastmancolor in the 1980s and Color movies from the 1990s.

Vijay played lead roles in Naalaiya Theerpu at age 18 after appearing as a child actor in his father's films (1992). In the 1993 movie Sendhoorapandi, which only had an average box office performance, Vijay co-starred alongside Vijayakanth. His 1994 film Rasigan, which might be seen as his first success but was not well received by reviewers, was released. In this film, Vijay received the prefix Ilaya Thalapathy (young commander) for the first time. After that, fans and the media continued to call him by this moniker throughout the rest of his career. He starred as the lead in movies like Deva and Rajavin Parvaiyile, where he shared the screen with Ajith Kumar.

After that, he appeared in the popular romantic comedy Vishnu alongside legendary Tamil actor Jaishankar. In the opening sequence of the movie Vishnu, Vijay wore an outfit resembling that of Will Smith's character, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, complete with ear studs. Chandralekha, a romantic tragedy, had a dismal box office performance. He acted in the romantic comedy Coimbatore Mappillai, directed by C. Ranganathan, at the beginning of 1995. Coimbatore Mappillai was a profitable endeavour, despite not receiving favourable reviews.

By the middle of the 1990s, Vijay had made a name for himself as a romantic leading man, and most of his numerous films received positive reviews for his distinctive acting style. Some of them ended up being great cult movies. In the 1996 Vikraman-directed movie Poove Unakkaga, Vijay made his acting debut. This role marked a turning point in Vijay's career and cemented his status as a well-known actor. The popular action movies Maanbumigu Maanavan and Selva came after Vijay's eleventh movie Vasantha Vasal. In 1997, Vijay appeared in the critically acclaimed films Kaalamellam Kaathiruppen, in which he engages in a love duel with a head-heavy woman, and Love Today, in which he plays a blindfolded lover. He received praise for his performance as a businessman being hounded by a woman seeking retribution in Once More, where he co-starred with veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan and debutante actress Simran. Both movies were commercial successes. The crowd cheered for him in both roles. He also acted in the critically acclaimed family drama Nerukku Ner, directed by Vasanth and co-starred debutante Suriya. The central tension in the story is between the in-laws. Vijay later received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for his role as a college student in the Fazil-directed movie Kadhalukku Mariyadhai.

Vijay's commitment to entertainment projects in 2000 signalled a shift in the pattern. He acted as an egotistic lover in Kushi and an NRI husband with non-Indian cultural overtones in Priyamaanavale, two financially successful romantic comedies released in 2000. He also played a musician suffering from amnesia in Vijay's successful 25th film, Kannukkul Nilavu, directed by Fazil once more. His following commercially successful release in 2001 was the comedy-drama film Friends, directed by Siddique and once again starred him in the central role opposite Suriya. Then Vijay played a kickboxer in the famous movie Badri and a love doctor in the tragicomic romance Shahjahan. In 2002, he co-starred with Indian actress Priyanka Chopra as a lawyer in the critically acclaimed action movie Thamizhan.

VIJAY

In 2003, K. Balachander's Kavithalaya Productions released the action-romance film Thirumalai, which also starred Jyothika and included Vijay in a separate role. Thirumalai was regarded as a pivotal moment in Vijay's professional life. Udhaya, whose filming started in 2002 but wasn't finished until early 2004, was finally released that year.

The Telugu film Okkadu replica Ghilli followed in 2004 and ran for 200 days in Tamil Nadu theatres. It was produced by A. M. Rathnam and co-starred Trisha and Prakash Raj. S. Dharani directed it. Ghilli became the first Tamil movie to earn more than 500 million rupees, or 50crore, at home theatres.

For nearly five years, the Tamil film industry's box office results standard was Rajinikanth's Padayappa (1999), which brought in a then-record amount of over $30 crore. Ghilli also established a record for being Kerala's highest-grossing non-Malayalam movie at the time, and it reportedly outperformed popular Malayalam films there. The movie was the first to accomplish this feat that wasn't directed by MGR or starred Rajinikanth; it made close to $500,000 in the Malaysian market. In addition, Ghilli broke M. G. Ramachandran's Adimai Penn (1969) record for the most spectators in a single week of a movie release. Ghilli got praise from reviewers.

According to The Hindu, "Ghilli" is "on a winning track" with Prakash Raj, the unmistakable villain, and Vijay, the hero with whom today's audiences identify. When Muthupandi (Raj) surrounds Velu (Vijay), he temporarily holds Dhanalakshmi (Trisha) hostage. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone copied this scene in the Bollywood film Chennai Express (2013). At a party in 2007, Vijay Following Ghilli in 2005 was the critically acclaimed films Madhurey, directed by Ramana Madhesh, and Thirupaachi, the first film by Perarasu. He made a cameo role in Sukran, the film directed by his father. He appeared in two hugely popular movies in late 2005: the action movie Sivakasi, which also starred Asin and was directed by Perarasu, and the romantic comedy Sachin, which also starred Genelia D'Souza.

Beginning in 2011, Vijay reconnected with director Siddique to work on the romantic comedy Kaavalan, a Tamil remake of Bodyguard's Malayalam film. It earned favourable reviews from critics and viewers and was financially successful, with a global box office take of 102 crores. The Chinese Shanghai International Film Festival featured a screening of Kaavalan. Chinese viewers gave Kaavalan glowing reviews, which was a commercial success there. His subsequent film, the action movie Velayudham, which was produced by Venu Ravichandran and directed by M. Raja, was released around Diwali in the same year. Velayudham was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2011. Velayudham was regarded as a financial triumph as well. In Velayudham, Vijay tried out being a superhero a third time. Australia's Melbourne International Film Festival featured a screening of Nanban. Critics appreciated Vijay's performance in the movie, notably prominent Indian actor Kamal Haasan. Nanban eventually finished its 100-day theatrical run. According to Indian Express, the box office revenue for the movie Nanban was 150 crores. In Prabhu Deva's 2012 Bollywood film Rowdy Rathore, he made a special guest song appearance. A. R. Murugadoss and S. Dhanu's action thriller Thuppakki, Vijay's 54th movie, was released on Diwali 2012 to mostly negative reviews.

Over the 2014 Pongal holiday weekend, his 56th film, Jilla, which also starred Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal and was directed by R. T. Neason, was released. It was a commercial success. Vijay teamed up with AR Murugadoss once more for the 2014 Diwali release of the action thriller Kaththi, which also starred Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Neil Nitin Mukesh and was made by Ayngaran International. He was both an idealist and a criminal with a criminal mind. The Los Angeles Times called Kaththi a "triumph in style." At the box office, Kaththi collected 130 crores. It had the second-highest box office performance in Tamil in 2014.

In September 2014, Kalaipuli S. Thanu agreed to provide funding for an Atlee-directed film starring Vijay. Before settling on There in late November 2015, the filmmakers considered many other names for the movie. It was revealed that the movie was "70% complete" in the same month. Although the severe flooding hampered the shoot in Chennai, Dhilip Subbarayan's action scenes were shot throughout the month. Early in December 2015, the team collaborated with Hollywood action choreographer Kaloyan Vodenicharov to help plug the movie's climactic sequences. However, the company decided to shoot in Bangkok instead because of China's unfavourable weather.

In January 2017, Bharathan's subsequent masala film Bairavaa, which also starred Keerthy Suresh and was made by Vijaya Productions, was released. Vijay collaborated once on the low-budget film Bairavaa, directed by Bharathan of Azhagiya Tamil Magan fame. Despite earning mixed reviews from critics and moviegoers who praised the action sequences and Vijay's coin-flipping talent, Bairavaa brought in 115 crores at the box office.

In the darkly humorous film, Rambo and James Bond are combined in Beast Vijay's portrayal of a tricky agent, according to a news source. The Beast was the highest-grossing Tamil movie at its U.S. premieres. Beast broke box office records in the overseas markets of Singapore, New Zealand, and Australia. The box office success of Beast brought about 250 crores worldwide.

Wealth:

Vijay's current net worth is $420 million, or 420 crores. He is the proud owner of pricey automobiles, including the Rolls Royce Ghost, Audi A8, BMW Series 5, BMW X6, and Mini Cooper. Tom Cruise's beach mansion and infrastructure captivated Vijay during his visit to America, so he snapped a picture of it and built a replica for him in Neelankarai, Chennai. Vijay is one of the best-paid Indian actors after earning an estimated 120–150 crores for his 66th film and surpassing Rajnikanth's income with a salary of 100 crores for Beast.
