He is the fourth of Telugu actor Krishna and Indira's five children, following Padmavathi, Manjula, Priyadarshini, and Ramesh Babu. Burripalem, in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district, is where their ancestral house resides. Babu spent most of his early years in Madras being raised by his family, including his maternal grandmother Durgamma. Ramesh Babu used to monitor Mahesh Babu's academic progress because Krishna was preoccupied with his filming obligations.

Babu frequently played cricket at Madras' VGP Golden Beach with his siblings. Krishna used to make sure that the weekend filming of his movies took place at the VGP Universal Kingdom so that he could spend time with him. He went to school with actress Karthi at Chennai's St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. To maintain calm in the classroom, Krishna ensured that

none of his kids would mention him. Babu had a GPA that was above average. He received his bachelor's degree in commerce from Loyola College in Chennai. Following graduation, and after spending three to four months in Vishakhapatnam taking acting classes under the direction of L. Satyanand. He used to memorise the dialogue supplied to him by his directors during his films' dubbing stage because he could not read or write Telugu. In an interview, Babu claimed that he and actor Vijay had been good friends for a very long time and had attended the same college before becoming successful in their film industries.

Family

In Australia, where B. Gopal's Vamsi was being filmed; Babu started dating Namrata Shirodkar, who played the female lead role opposite him. They chose to get married after dating for four years, and Manjula persuaded Krishna to support their choice. They were married on February 10, 2005, at the Marriott Hotel in Mumbai while Athadu was filmed. The pair's first child was born on August 31, 2006, at Hyderabad's Global Hospital. The infant boy, called Gautham Krishna, was born prematurely and in a serious condition. His health stabilised when the umedical professionals could intervene in time to treat him. Shirodkar gave birth to a child on July 20, 2012, and they called her Sitara. To assure a higher level of immunity, they used stem cell banking to retain her stem cells before birth.

In a family of five kids, Babu is the fourth child. His older brother Ramesh Babu was a producer and actor in movies. Padmavathi, the oldest sister of Mahesh Babu, is wed to Galla Jayadev, a Telugu Desam Party politician and industrialist. His older sister Manjula is a film actress, producer, and director. Priyadarshini, his younger sister, is wed to Sudheer Babu, who later made his acting debut in a Telugu movie. Babu's stepmother was the Telugu actor and director Vijaya Nirmala, and his stepbrother was actor Naresh.

Philanthropy

MAHESH BABU

Babu donates 30% of his annual revenue to charity because he prefers it, and most of his charitable endeavours are kept quiet. He joined the Men Against Rape and Discrimination (MARD) movement in August 2013 and lent his voice to a Javed Akhtar poem translated into Telugu. He was chosen in 2013 to serve as the nonprofit Heal-a-child Foundation's goodwill ambassador. The foundation offers financial aid to parents of children with terminal illnesses to help with the cost of medical care. He gave $2,500,000 in October 2014 to an Andhra Pradesh chief minister-run relief fund for the restoration of areas damaged by Cyclone Hudhud. Later, Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala gave the fund 2.5 million dollars.

Jayadev declared in February 2015 that Babu would adopt Burripalem, a small panchayat in Tenali that is home to Krishna, and would take care of the community's necessities, such as providing clean drinking water and improving the roads and drainage systems. A second village in the Mahbubnagar district is being adopted by Babu and Telangana's Minister of Rural Development, K. T. Rama Rao, according to information they both shared.

Legal Issue

In support of Arjun's promotional efforts, his supporters held a rally in Warangal in September 2004 that Babu and director Gunasekhar attended. He and his supporters are accused of breaking into two video rental shops and attacking the proprietors for selling the movie on unlicensed CDs. He was the primary accused in cases under IPC sections 448 (criminal trespass), 427 (mischief), and 366 (kidnapping), together with five other people. A second village in the Mahbubnagar district is being adopted by Babu and Telangana's Minister of Rural Development, K. T. Rama Rao, according to information they both shared.

In September 2004, Babu presented himself at the district court, and he later returned in April 2006. According to Babu, the "funniest" part of the situation was that not a single case had been filed against the guy selling bootleg CDs, even though cases had been filed against him "on the basis of incorrect information." Pawan Kalyan, an actor, openly backed Babu throughout the episode.

Career

MAHESH BABU

Mahesh made his acting debut at the young age of four in the Telugu film Needa. Mahesh first appeared in front of the camera in 1979, two decades before he made his acting debut as a lead in the 1999 film Raja Kumarudu. After seeing Mahesh in Poratam four years later, director Kodi Ramakrishna chose to cast him in his upcoming film after being pleased by his on-screen presence. Mahesh was swiftly cast in various Telugu movies, including Koduku Diddina Kapuram, Sankharavam, Mugguru Kodukulu, Bazaar Rowdy, and Gudachari 117. However, Krishna insisted that Mahesh take a sabbatical and instead focus on his education in 1990.

A talented new star entered the Telugu film business when Mahesh made his debut in Raja Kumarudu, which also starred Priety Zinta, over ten years later. Mahesh gained the moniker "The Little Prince" not long after the film's commercial success. Mahesh even went on to win the Nandi Award for Best Male Actor for his performance in the movie. But instead of building on the success of his first film, Mahesh released the commercial  Yuvaraju and Vamsi as his next two films.

Murari, Mahesh's following album, was among his most significant releases. Mahesh lists this part as one of his favourites, and the film was a box office success. He received a Nandi Special Jury Award for his work in the film. After that, his following two films didn't do well at the box office, and it wasn't until 2003's Okkadu, the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year, that he gained commercial success. Mahesh later won his first Filmfare award for the film's Best Actor. Despite the economic failure of his subsequent film, Nijam, Mahesh was able to garner positive reviews from critics and win his first Nandi Best Actor Award.

His sister, Manjula, produced his subsequent film, Naani, which was a commercial flop, leaving both of them sad. Mahesh recovered, though, and performed strongly in the 2005 film Athadu. Although the audience was once again wowed by Mahesh's following two films, Pokiri and Athidhi, he chose to take a break from acting after Athidhi. His hiatus, originally intended to last a few months, became two years as Khaleja, the next movie he signed, was delayed. Khaleja also received conflicting reviews from critics and failed commercially.

Mahesh produced several successful movies after Khaleja between 2011 and 2013, including Dookudu, Businessman, and Seethamma Vakito Sirimalle Chettu. Despite how prosperous these years were for Mahesh, 2014 was a letdown because both of his movies, Nenokkadine and Aagadu, received negative reviews and performed poorly at the box office. Soon after, in 2015, Mahesh entered the world of production and, through his recently established production company, G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., co-produced the movie Srimanthudu.

Mahesh Babu appeared in Bhahmotsavam, a bilingual Telugu-Tamil film released in May 2016. The movie didn't do well at the box office. However, the audience applauded Mahesh for his performance. His previous works include Spyder (2017), Bharat Ane Nenu (2018), Maharshi (2019), and Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020). His 2022 film Sarkaru Vaari Paata likewise garnered mixed reception, although critics praised his portrayal. Additionally, he produced Major and provided the narration for Ram Charan's film Acharya (2022).

Awards

Mahesh Babu is a recipient of eight Nandi Awards, five Filmfare South Awards, three CineMAA Awards, three Santosham Film Awards, four SIIMA Awards, and one IIFA Utsavam Award.
