Dharmendra - Biography

'Dharmendra' is a big name in the Bollywood industry and India. His full name is Dharmendra Singh Deol. He is a Megastar and legendary Indian film actor in Bollywood. In India, he has been worshiped as a god. He has a big fan following around the world. The Karisma he has in India is unavailable. People very much connected with him as he was from very poor background, he had seen all the ups and down in his life and his family life. He understand people suffers and always keen to help others.

Dharmendra

People love him because of his politeness, sweetness, and down-to-earth nature. He did so many blockbuster films, and he played so many roles in movies or played many characters throughout his career. He had a huge fan following among women. He used to receive many marriage proposal every day. Women were crazy behind him. His charm, wittiness, sense of humor, looks, getup liked by women a lot. He used to receive so much love from every generation whether from kids, youth, or old people, everyone loves him. He has mutual respect for his fans too. He always take out some time for his fan as he said always, without fan we cannot become star. He is very soft in nature. He used to be very naughty in his young days as some his co-actor said.

He did all genre type films where he played a lover boy, Action hero, Family man, comedian, and dancer; he nailed it in all genres. He had done so many action movies, and such films suit his personality completely; that's why people started calling him an action hero or He-man.

Education

Let's talk about his academics, and he did his schooling at Government Senior Secondary School, and the interesting fact was his father used to work in the same school. Afterward, he went to Ramgarhia College and completed his intermediate studies. He originated from real Indian culture, his village, and that's also a reason for his down-to-earth attitude.

Career

Dharmendra was looking for work, and fortunately, he tried modeling himself. He got an opportunity to appear in a show conducted by Filmfare magazine, where he won the 'New talent award'.

After his first step toward his career, he moved to Mumbai, seeking work. After much struggle and patience, he made his debut acting in the film 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere' in 1960. The man behind his debut movie was Arjun Hingorani. He worked as a supporting actor in a few films but soon after one year. He played a romantic hero in many films like Soorat Aur Seerat, Bandini, Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya, Dulhan Ek Raat Ki, etc., 'And Phool Aur Patthar'. His first action film was 'Phool Aur Patthar'.

The movie was a blockbuster. People believed he was only a romantic hero, and for 7-to 8 years, he did top films based on romantic stories. However, he broke that string and did a few great comedy films like Tum Haseen Main Jawan, showing his comic timing and expression in comic roles. One of the famous opposite cast was Dharmendra and Hema Malini. Their chemistry was very much appreciated by the audience and became the hit Jodi of the decade. Films like Seeta Aur Geeta, and Patthar Aur Payal, were blockbuster films given by this pair.

He has worked with many legendary directors, and he used to share a very strong and loving bond with them. In his entire career, he almost worked with all legendary of Bollywood. In the 70s, Dharmendra was the most handsome man of that era. In his era of the 70s and 80s, Dharmendra did so many movies with big directors like Yash Chopra, Ramesh Sippy, and Rajkumar Santoshi.

 In 1990, he produced the second film for his son Ghayal in the lead role. Ghayal had excellent reviews and feedback, made the second biggest hit of the year, and won many awards, including 7 Filmfare Awards and a film acclaimed as the best film of the year. This film won the national award for Best Popular Film.

He has also produced many Punjabi films, which is his native tongue, starring in films like Kankan De Ole (Special Appearance) (1970), Do Sher (1974), Dukh Bhanjan Tera Naam (1974), by such movies made his name and fame in Punjab industry.

Family

As we all know, he is God-man and blessed with all happiness. Sweet family, his father was Late Kewal Kishan Singh Deol, and his mother was Late Satwant Kaur. He has two wives. Firstly, he married Prakash Kaur and has two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, from his first marriage. Later he got married to dream girl Hema Malini, and he has four beautiful daughters from his second marriage Esha Deol, Ahana Deol, Vijeeta Deol, and Ajeeta Deol. However, only Esha Deol showed her interest in films and did debut in the blockbuster film Dhoom.

Brother

His brother Ajit Singh Deol was also an actor and producer who was known for Pratiggya (1975), Meharbaani (1982), and Putt Jattan De. He was the brother of Dharmendra and the father of bollywood actor Abhay Deol (1983). He and his first cousin, celebrity Veerendra, married two sisters at the same time: Ajit married Usha and Veerendra married Pammi.

Sons

Sunny Deol who is also a famous Bollywood actor born as Ajay Singh Deol, is the son of actor Dharmendra and actress Prakash Kaur. Sunny started his acting career with the super hit film Betaab (1983), a love story starring another newcomer, Amrita Singh; the film was a huge success, and he went on to star in films that established him as Bollywood's most prolific action hero. He is well-known for his roles in movies such as Tridev, Arjun, Ghayal, Vishwatma, Lootere, Damini, and Border, among others.

He made his directorial debut with Dillagi (1999), and his most recent film, Ghayal Once Again, was released in 2016. Sunny Deol is married to Lynda Deol (aka Pooja Deol), and they have two sons, Karan and Rajveer. Karan worked as an assistant director on Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and rapped in one of the film's songs, which was sung by Diljit Dosanjh. With the Hindi-language feature film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, Karan Deol made his Bollywood debut. On 2-3 April 20-19, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He also won the Gurdaspur seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

His second son, Vijay Singh Deol, also known as Bobby Deol, is an Indian film actor who was born on January 27, 1969, into the family of Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur.

His Interests

Dharmendra's hobby is writing shayri. We have seen him recite shayri during a reality show or film launch ceremony. He admires Dada saheb Phalke and likes Hema Malini as an actress. He loves Punjabi food. We have seen him wearing black attire, which is his favorite color.

Dharmendra was also in politics and received lots of love from Punjab; however, he left politics later. Recently he was helping and guiding his grandson Karan Deol.' his debut film was 'Pal pal dil ke pas'. He has a very beautiful family we have witnessed many times to see the bonding amongst them.

Further, after 30-40 years in the Bollywood industry, he started judging many realities shows like India's Got Talent. He has appeared on many shows as a special guest to boost youngsters' morale. He has done so many films where he played supporting roles like Life in a Metro, Apne, Johnny Gaddaar, etc., in his career.
