Passport Controversy: The controversy began a few years ago when customs officers wanted to inspect her luggage due to the X-ray detection of a "large quantity of gold."Rujira was granted relief from the customs notice by the High Court of Calcutta in April 2019. The court noted that Rujira is a Thai national with an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) certificate. The case is still pending.
