TM leader Rujira Banerjee once made the Limelight when she was detained by the Airport police while carrying 2 kilograms of gold to the Netaji Subha Chandra airport. Then Abhishek Banerjee arrived to support Rujira Banerjee and accused his enemies of the situation. He said that people are against him and his wife and attempting to ruin both his political and public image. However, airport customs officials seized gold from the Rujira since it exceeded the allowable amount.
Charges have also been filed in connection with these cases, including 120B (criminal conspiracy), 34 (common intention Acts), 509 (insulting a woman), 354 (assault), and 506 (criminal Intimidation).

- The coal scam in Bengal: On February 23, 2021, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team interrogated Rujira Banerjee in a coal smuggling incident. This inquiry began at 11 a.m. and concluded at 1:30 p.m. (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes) at Abhishek Banerjee's home in Kolkata.
- Passport Controversy: The controversy began a few years ago when customs officers wanted to inspect her luggage due to the X-ray detection of a "large quantity of gold."Rujira was granted relief from the customs notice by the High Court of Calcutta in April 2019. The court noted that Rujira is a Thai national with an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) certificate. The case is still pending. After that, Rujira received a notification from the home ministry for getting a PAN card without disclosing her Thai citizenship. The report also noted occasions where her father's name appeared differently.
