She enrolled in college to complete her bachelor's. She graduated from St. Xavier's College with a bachelor's degree in sociology. After receiving her bachelor's, she pursued her master's degree at Mumbai University. She was given a chance to work with renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal on a movie while doing her master's, but due to production problems, that movie was unable to be released.

At the time, she signed on for 12 consecutive Malayalam movies. Unfortunately, the Malayalam film business did not support her as much as the Hindi film industry. She then changed to other languages for greater exposure and potential. She attempted to contact the Tamil business and was given a chance to star opposite Madhavan, a well-known figure there, in the movie "Run", but Vidya also ran into some trouble there. Different actresses frequently substituted her for whatever reason. She afterward started appearing in TV ads. She has appeared in almost 60 television commercials and numerous music videos.

Hustle in the Career

In 2003, "Bhalo Theko," a Bengali movie, served as her acting debut. She performed one of the film's lead parts along with two other actors. Nevertheless, Vidya was finally cast in the movie after extensive testing. Saif Ali Khan's onscreen rival was Balan. Both the audience and the critics have given her performance favorable reviews. Later, she and Sanjay Dutt starred in the 2006 comedy "Lage Raho Munna Bhai," directed by Rajkumar Hirani. It made close to 110 crores in revenue. It ranks among the highest-grossing movies ever.

The Royal Guard" did not have a good box office performance, but in Vidya's opinion, such movies helped her develop and hone her acting abilities. 'Eklavya' received an 80th Academy Award nomination.

Vidya went on to play a westernized woman in the 2007 movie "Heyy Babyy." The movie's box office performance was decent, but critics were unimpressed. According to one of the detractors, Vidya tried to appear "over the top" in her portrayal. The comedy-horror movie "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" was the next project for Balan. The movie, which Priyadarshan directed, was a remake of the Malayalam film "Manichitrathazhu." It was difficult for Vidya to play the part of a woman with an identity crisis in the movie. According to the sources, Vidya Balan sequestered herself for three days to embody the character. She once passed out on the sets as a result. With the release of the movie "Paa," Vidya experienced a decline in popularity. That movie halted her career. Amitabh Bachchan, a renowned actor, was on set with her. Although Vidya Balan played her part well, she initially hesitated about the movie. She played Amitabh Bachchan's mother. "Ishqiya" came on the screen next. She performed the part of a village widow. Although her part in the movie is terrible, she played it well. Despite the lack of glamour in the movie, she was nevertheless able to portray her character with feeling. Her next picture was The Dirty Picture. Although there was a lot of criticism around it. She performed in the 2012 movie "Kahaani." The micro-budget street shooting of "Kahaani" in Kolkata is an intriguing fact about the movie. The entire movie was filmed in just 64 days. Newspapers and media outlets have given the movie very favorable reviews. At the box office, Vidya once again brought in one of the biggest sums. She is one of the most successful female movies leads thanks to the popularity of her two films, which were released back to back. Balan appeared in the same year's movie, "Ghanchakkar”. She played Emraan Hashmi's opposite in the movie. In one of the animated versions of the Indian epic tale "Mahabharat," she also provided the voice of Draupadi. Her next movie, "Bobby Jasoos," in which she portrayed a detective, failed to be successful commercially and at the box office.

She was inconsolable following two failures in a row. Then, Vidya Balan decided to do the movie "Hamaari Adhuri Kahani." Mahesh Bhatt produced and wrote the movie. Mahesh Bhatt's mother inspires the film's plot. Vidya Balan, in his opinion, would be a better choice for the role. So he decided to cast her in the movie. Then she played Indian actress Geeta Bali in a Marathi biopic "Ekk Albela." She was nominated for Best Actress for the subsequent film, "Kahaani2: Durga Rani Singh."

Vidya Balan has finally seen significant commercial success thanks to the film. She portrayed a sex prostitute in the period drama movie "Begum Jaan" in 2017. She did a fantastic job as a radio personality. Vidya desired to advance her career in the southern industry because of her continued success. As a result, she produced two sequels in 2019: "N.T.R: Kathanayakudu" and "N.T.R: Mahanayakudu." Unfortunately, the commercial success of both sequels was poor. She performed in the Tamil remake of "Pink" and "Nerkonda Paarvai." That movie succeeded very well financially.

The movie did very well at the box office despite all the controversy.
