The PCS examination method is similar to the procedures carried out to select the IAS officers and sometimes overlaps with the UPSC exams. It involves three phases: prelims, mains, and interviews. One has to pass all the steps of the test to be a PCS officer. After obtaining an assured % of points in the prelims, which is 33%, a minimum cut offset by the State Public Service Commission, a candidate can go to the next round of the mains exam.

General State PCS Exams information

The prelims have two papers, paper one and paper two, which are of general studies. It is compulsory to participate and clear both the papers to pass the preliminary exam. The second phase of the mains consists of eight papers. It has two parts; one is for subjects that are mandatory while the other is optional. The mandatory subjects are Hindi and Essay writing, with each carrying 150 marks. There are four available subjects, of 200 marks each. And lastly, there is a 200-mark interview round in which the interviewer tests the candidate's personality, attitude, general knowledge, characteristics, etc.

Provincial Civil Service Officer is an internal administrative public sector officer of the State Government. The PCS officers are selected and established with the help of each state PCS test. UPPSC is a PCS exam conducted by Uttar Pradesh; the full form is Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission State Civil Services. State civil services control this examination. The PCS director is accountable for managing government, rule, and regulation of the state laws. At the district, administrative and state levels, the PCS officer serves in different roles.

How to become a PCS officer?

The requirement for a candidate to become a PCS officer is to take the respective state PCS examination; for example, UPPSC provides a notice each year for the candidates to apply for the PCS examination.
