If the program is an early Windows program, we may get this “not a valid Win32 application” error. If you are running any program on the computer and receive a "not a valid Win32 application" error, it means your computer is giving message you the program has failed authenticity testing. And your computer cannot run that particular program.

This error often occurs when you change the version, like using different versions 64-bit and 32-bit versions. To fix this error, we have to reacquire the file from the place where we got it. The file may be a worm or virus.

How to fix a not a valid Win32 application error

For both interfaces, i.e., for 64-bit Windows and 32-bit Windows, Win32 is the programming interface. Like API (API – Application Programming Interface) interface. 32-bit applications are developed by windows.

The Virus: Win32/Xpaj is the virus, which infects the local files. Virus: Win32/Xpaj can be known as a family of viruses, which is capable of infecting other things.

Location: Win32.exe is located in the c:\Windows\System32 folder.

  • If the program file is corrupted, this error occurs.
  • If the file is infected, the "not a valid Win32 application" error occurs.
  • Uninstalled software is causing a Win32 error.

Computers that are running on 64-bit or higher processors with 64-bit operating systems can read 64-bit code only. So, when you try to run 64-bit Windows programs on a 32-bit computer, you will get a "not a valid Win32 application" error message. Now, in this case, you have to understand that this error is not caused by malfunction but is stating that the program is not running a valid 32-bit code and the program has a valid 64-bit code.

Missing or Infected data

The “not a valid Win32 application” error message occurs when there is missing or infected data happens, as the computers will store an incomplete file on the hard drive whenever a download is interrupted and cannot complete. Since it is incomplete, the file will not be able to execute. And, because of a malware function, the file itself could fail to execute. The malware has been able to change the program so much that it fails to run and errors out. Malware attacks and infects the executable files.

 File Corruption

When a computer user tries to open bribed program, this error may come out. File corruption can cause programs to crash and malfunction while in use or damage the program so much that it cannot run, depending on what data gets damaged.

Another reason is if the particular file is flawed or if it is just incompatible with the Windows version, this error will arise. So, like this, there were many other reasons why this error occurred on windows.

We may get this error in some situations when the particular program is no longer installed on the computer system. Also, if the computer system has a corrupted or bad hard drive, it fails to store the program on the disk. Users can use defrag and ScanDisk on the hard disk to check potential errors.
