What is a Copyright?
In modern times, copyright is becoming more important because of content thieves, who steal information and uses it for the benefit of money. When the Copyright feature came into existence, there were some advantages and some disadvantages. When a person they have a piece of information about a particular thing and they posted on their website for their customers, that customer only there will be the person who tries to steal the information from them and keeps it on his website.
For example, there is a singer who is well known for his talent in singing if he composes a song for a movie or for himself in his private banner and posts it on YouTube or any other social media platform. If somebody likes his song, he downloads it and posts it on his YouTube channel and earns money. The profit that he is getting from the song by the singer will decrease, and it equalizes the profit for both the singer and the stealer. Here the profit of the singer has been stolen by the thief.
Therefore, singer is getting the loss for what the thief has done. Here comes the Copyright. If you have a copyright of that song, then the singer has all the rights and authorities for his song, whom to be posted and whom not to be posted. If somebody tries to steal and upload it on social media without his permission, then the singer has all the right to proceed according to the law of Copyright. This is the best example to know about Copyright.
Original works of authorship are protected under copyright law, a sort of property right, as soon as the author fixes the work in a tangible form of expression. Beginning in January 1958, the Copyright Act of 1957 (the "Act") went into force. Since then, the Act has been modified five times: in 1983, 1984, 1992, 1994, 1999, and 2012. The most significant of these is the Copyright (Amendment) Act 2012. The WIPO Copyright Treaty ("WCT") and WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty ("WPPT"), both of which have been agreed to sign in 1996, are the main reasons for the amendments to the Copyright Act of 1957.
Explanations include protecting the music and film industries and addressing their concerns, addressing the needs of the physically disabled, incidental changes, and removing operational facilities. The introduction of statutory licenses for cover versions and broadcasting companies, fines for disregarding technological protection measures and rights management data, and liability of internet service providers are just a few of the significant changes made to the Copyright. Other significant changes include securing the right to receive royalties for authors and music composers, granting exclusive economic and moral rights to performers, and granting equal membership rights in the Copyright. A copyright is a type of permission granted to the inventor or author.
The formation of an office designated as the Copyright Office for Act purposes is mandated by Section 9 of the Copyright Act. A Registrar of Copyrights, who will be nominated by the Central Government and who will operate under its supervision and directives, will have direct responsibility over the Copyright Office.
India protects the copyrights of works from the nations included in the International Copyright Order as if they were Indian works. A work's copyright tenure must not be longer than that which applies to it in the nation of creation.

India has ratified and signed the vast majority of important international treaties governing the subject of copyright law, such as the Rome Convention of 1961, the Universal Copyright Convention of 1951, and the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights. The Delhi High Court stated in a 2016 copyright lawsuit that "Copyright is meant to expand and not to restrict the harvest of knowledge," according to the definition of Copyright, which is "not an inevitable, divine, or natural right that confers on writers the absolute ownership of their inventions.
