Why can’t I open any web pages when connected to the internet

You can follow the instructions below if you are able to connect to the Internet, you are unable to access any websites.

Why can’t I open any web pages when connected to the internet

Ping an Internet Address

  1. You need to open the Command Prompt first.
  2. Hit Enter after typing “ping google.com” on the command prompt.

If google.com didn't respond

Try executing the command ping 8.8.8.8 at the prompt to ping the IP address of google.com if you are still getting no answer.

If you receive IPs response

When the IP address responds but not the domain google.com, you have a DNS issue. If you face this problem, go to the router's setup page and confirm that the DNS address provided by your ISP (Internet service provider) and other addresses are correct.

If you don’t receive IPs response

There is a chance that your network may be having issues if neither the IP address nor the google.com address responds to your request. If you are connected to a home network, you must turn off your router and internet modem in this situation. Do not plug them back in right away; wait ten seconds before doing so. Once the modem and router have been powered on and connected, test your Internet.

If you've successfully reset the power, but the problem persists, check your router's setup and make sure your ISP's settings are accurate. Additionally, you can speak with your ISP to ensure the router settings are proper (Internet Service Provider).

If this is a corporate network, get in touch with the network administrator since they may be the only ones who can fix the issue.

From google.com, I get responses or packets.

Try opening google.com in your web browser if you get a response or packets from that domain. If Google.com loads but another website doesn't, there is either a problem with that website or a filter blocking the website from opening.

If your browser didn't open google.com, try using a different web browser. For example, if you are using Google Chrome, you can open google.com using a different browser, like Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. If google.com loads in a new browser but not in your default browser, there is no issue with your Internet or browser.

If any Internet browser is unable to open webpages

Your computer may be infected with a virus or malware if you are unable to view any internet pages in any web browser. In every browser, there are a variety of viruses and spyware that prevent websites from loading or opening. We advise you to check your computer for malware and viruses and delete them. If you successfully remove any malware or viruses that were discovered while performing a computer scan, the issue can be fixed, and you will be able to access web pages once more.

When you are properly linked to the Internet but are unable to open any online pages, there is also an additional option available. Using the Networking settings, you can start Windows in Safe Mode and try to open a web page in any Web browser. If you can successfully access a web page in Windows safe mode, a program that only operates in that mode may be to blame for the issue. For instance, this can be a malfunctioning device driver or network setting that can only be used in standard Windows mode. This may indicate a virus or malware infestation as some spyware and viruses may not function in safe mode.

In your browser, look up any error message.

Error messages are helpful since they outline the specific issue and what went wrong. This information can be used to investigate the issue further or wipe out any software or hardware issues. Here is a list of some of the error messages you will most frequently see:

1) 403 Forbidden - You are unable to access this page. Please check the address again and try to access it once more.

2) 404 Page Not Found - You are attempting to access a page that doesn't exist. You should double-check the address and try to open it once more. This could indicate that a problem occurred or that the webpage was moved.

3) 500 Internal Server Error - Please try again later because you won't be able to fix the issue with the site's hosting server that prevents you from accessing this page.

Remove any software that may be harmful

Since they are browser plugins, ad blockers restrict websites from functioning correctly. If you possess these plugins installed on your computer, delete it before refreshing the web page. Adding the website to your adblocker's whitelist will prevent it from being blacklisted again if this fixes the issue.

There is also security software available that may interfere with your computer's internet connection. These include anti-malware software, anti-virus software, firewall programs, and third-party programs like Little Snitch (Mac). If you are using any of these applications, stop using them for a bit or look through your block list before attempting to refresh the page.

Conducting frequent malware scans might be a smart idea. Your computer may be unable to establish an internet connection due to malware, particularly ransomware.
